Flowers

.Hi Karen. I"m new. Lynda. I would have chosen a symbol for hang in there but there was none so flowers will have to do. I gues you already know that everyone's experience with MS is different. It sounds like you are suffering from stress more than the symptoms. I was diagnosed in 2006 and have been on Avonex ever since. There don't seem to be any side effects for me and I never had a problem with the needles because I have a medical background and already have to give myself a B-12 shot too. I have looked back over my life as I'm sure most MS patients do. I had my first battle when my son was graduating from high school. It was bad. I had just gotten to the point where I never felt good and then one day at work I was first into the elevator and it was way below level. I felt worse and worse as the day drug on. The next morning when the alarm went off I found I'd been crying in my sleep and had to drag myself off the bed onto the floor. I started in with physical therapy and when I should have been better and the insurance gave up on me I still was in pain. I didn't have insurance so everytime I would decide to spend money I didin't have I would see a Dr and be told it was all in my head. I finally wangled my way in to see a rheumatologist and he too said it was all in my head but he'd do the tests to prove it to me. There were a lot and when they came back he had a puzzled look on his face and finally said he didn't know what it was but he'd just call it RA. At this point the stress finally got to me and I was suicidal so I put myself in the hospital. I was put with a Dr who was a hematologist. He redid all the tests and came up with MCTD after all my therapy I was on prednisone and have been ever since. In 2005 he finally told me I needed to see a GP. After I'd changed over to a Dr I'd already known and we started dealing with my problems, there came the day I went to him with the ? Do you suppose I could have MS? He ran an MRI and when he read the results aloud he checked to see if I was going to fall apart. Then it was on to the neurologist who ran an MRA and a spinal tap that showed 5 distinct bands. I told an internet friend when I got the results and she couldn't believe I had 5 bands and was still out mowing. She was always down. Days she didn't even get on line. I have my bad days too but they usually follow a day when I've crammed too much into the day. This just shows you that everyone is different. It's hard I know but maybe you need a change of attitude or some such. Find a way to let go of all the stress over your changing symptoms. They are running the show now- not you and there is very little you can do to change that. See your Drs and take the meds and realize it's all apt to change over the years. Take the good days as a blessing and the bad ones- you just through them the best way you can. I've adopted the "Let go, let God" attitude or if you preffer my husband's 'What is is, what ain't ain't" attitude. If you haven't gotten a diagnosis I feel for you. Those are the worst times.

Just when you think you have it figured out.... SURPRISE! Do not sweat the small stuff (pun intended), try to keep in the cool as much as possible. I recall the summer of 2006 and 2007 being brutal. The first part of the summer was OK for me. The temperatures were mild and the humidity low, but that has changed in the last several weeks, so I go from one cool area to another. Keep your chin up and keep a sense or humor. It will save you many a day.
