About Me
My father just passed away 1/21/09 after a 4 yr battle with MG, as the last 3 months becoming life threathening. Mom, myself and my family are looking for a support group where we can talk, share and help others. We want to continue to help the MG Foundation and those w/this Disease. It can become nasty if you do not know anything about it. Plesae take care of yourself and do EXACTLY what your doctors tell you to do. I miss my dad so very much!! I have never seen anything like this before. God Bless

Interests
Spending time with my family, my mom. We have 5 kids, his, mine and ours ~ lol ~ 3 dogs, love photography, outdoors, anything with the kiddos. Interested in learning as much about MG as possible and helping the Foundation. Last I plan on writing a book about my daddy's life w his/MG as his last wish as his case seemed to be so rare.

The loss of a parent is so difficult, no matter at what age. I'm sure your dad is so proud of the woman you've become and the work you are doing for others with MG. I thank you for your support and dedication. God Bless.

Close Migraine Headaches
I have had migraines since I was 18 and have learned that they can be triggered by many things; Hormones for 1, foods, STRESS is a huge part, nerves, etc.
Treatments
- Aspirin Not Working
- Can not take. Does not agree w/me at all.
- Avoid Certain Foods / Chemicals Not Working
- I avoid certain food, thru the years have learned the foods I can not eat or drink, they will throw me into a migraine right away.
- Caffeine Somewhat Helpful
- Have to be careful of drinking TOO much caffeine.
- Excedrin Not Working
- Does NOT work - Over the counter is not a cure, at least not for me, each individual is different.
- Fioricet Not Working
- Have taken in the past but no longer helps.
- Fiorinol Not Working
- Have tried in the plast but no longer helps.
- Imitrex Not Working
- Tried, however this med made my heart beat so fast it felt like it was going to jump out of my chest.
- Maxalt Not Working
- This med seemed to help when I would take at first and then it would make me dazed, so I dis continued it, per doctor's orders, again (different on each individual).
- Midrin Not Working
- Tried, however this med but no longer works - made me sick to my stomach.
- Naproxen Not Working
- Does not work for a Migraine.
- Relpax Working / Worked
- I use this med to alternate with my other rescue medicine. It does infact work. No side effects. Drink lots of water with it.
- Topamax Working / Worked
- This is my preventative medicine I take and have been taking for a few years. Read the side effects on the bottle, can be different for each individual.
- Tylenol Working / Worked
- Works for a headache but not for a migraine.
Close Myasthenia Gravis
My father lost his battle w/MG in January, the last 3 month becoming life threathening. Please do exactly as your Doctor's tell you. This can be a nasty disease. I am here for support. Still learning all I can about this disease and writing a book about my dads adventure with this.
Treatments
- IVIG Working / Worked
- Daddy had numbers Intravenous Immunoglobuln treatments over the past 4 years and when this treatment does not work the doctor will order the Plasmapheresis treatment at that time as it is very effective.
- Mestinon Working / Worked
- Medication was taken daily until he was placed into ICU the last 3 months, as Mestinon can be hard on the heart at that time.

I have had TMJ since I was 18, not sure what happened to acquire it. After the lose of my father this January it has gotten extremely worse. I had never thought my Migraines could be cause by it, however learned last week from my Ortho Specialists that they can.....Getting Nightsplint and day guard - just waiting for them now. Hoping to get off my Migraine meds. We will see.
