Close Lyme Disease
Fell ill while working on blood-substitute (no safety precautions available); went from healthy to bed-bound in 2 mo. Dx'ed CFS at first, thinking Lyme because of live blood test results.
Treatments
- Amoxicillin Working / Worked
- some improvement; required cholestyramine to tolerate abx treatment due to neurotoxin release; worked best with antifungal at same time.
- Minocycline Working / Worked
- best results of all abx, but hardest to tolerate even with cholestyramine. Taken with antifungal
- Doxycycline Working / Worked
- worked similar to minocycline, but not as much improvement
Close Medical Mysteries
Been ill for 16yr - dx'ed as CFS, maybe Lyme. Have parasites in RBCs, but negative on Lyme PCR at the same time.
Open Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
I have been dx'es with CFS/ME for 16+ years, and want to see other's ways of dealing with it, and if possible add my expertise,
Treatments
- DHEA Working / Worked
- DHEA deficit was found early and supplementaiton helped energy starting then and continuing til now
- Klonopin Working / Worked
- low dose (0.25 - 0.5 mg) used in combo with doxepin (20-30 mg) for sleep
- Paxil Not Working
- mess up my sleep
- Zoloft Somewhat Helpful
- worked for a while, but as it built up it started leading to erectile dysfunction
