Well, I thought it would be more exciting - you know, fireworks, champagne, streamers - but today is my first 31 days. I think DS would be more fun if it added animated smileys not just the static ones. But I can say that I'm happy to be here. 31 days. Who woulda thunk it?

All the times so many people have said 'If I can do it...' and I kept thinking, 'Not me' yet here I am. I feel a tear coming to my eye...

Now it's just a matter of remembering how I got here. Just handling the urges on the days they would appear. I only gambled on specific days anyway and it was only ever on one of those days that I got any urges. My friend that I was hanging with 'slipped' and his addiction is back, but we're still hanging out together and he's still trying to beat his. I do my best to support him and I'm even more confident that his 'slip' will not trigger one for me.

I've overcome my need to share all the things that happen to me with the guys at the bar. Writing them in my journal and sharing them with my other friends on line works. When I do something really fun - I just get on the phone instead of driving to the bar.

Thank you all my friends here at DS. You made something happen that nothing else ever could I am officially 31 days Gamble Free. I can do this forever now cuz It's downhill from here!

I won't forget how I got here and I won't forget all of your wonderful support. Just for today I'm confident, not cocky. It's different this time. I no longer gamble.
