My Neurologist has really helped me out. He has taken up the slack while my PCP (Primary Care Physician) has ignored my fatigue problems because he doesn’t believe I have anything wrong with me. Why do doctors seem to ignore the problems of older patients? Is it because they assume it’s just aging and the patients are just not accepting the fact they are just getting older?
My answer is this, “I’ll live long enough to spit on his grave.”
Dr. S, my Neurologist has helped me find out a large part of my problem is Fibromyalgia. I am now on Lyrica and I’m sleeping much better. My fatigue is still there because if I overdo my workout, I still have to recover the next day. Because I have less pain, I sleep better at night. Sleep can be key but for me it’s not the total answer.
I just fired my doctor. The fourth in the last 10 years. I’m getting tired of being told there’s nothing wrong with me. I have a milder case of Chronic Fatigue and related Fibromyalgia than most people but it can incapacitate me for days at a time. I’m 57 years old not 107. I know I’m getting older but I refuse to attribute my lack of energy to just that. I have friends in their 90’s that are still quite active and I can’t even play golf anymore.
Friends, don’t let your doctor tell you there’s nothing wrong when you know there is. If he or she is not helping, fire them and get someone who will work with you. Doctors are not gods if fact a lot of them are arrogant jerks who have no business dealing with patients. I don’t have the time to deal with idiots so I’m moving on.
Went to my regular doctor to touch base. I feel like I'm talking to a wall sometimes. He tells me I don't have CFS but has no evidence to support it. Does he think I have nothing better to do than complain about my fatigue? I don't have the time to deal with idiots, I'm trying to run a business and it just keeps getting harder.
At least my Neurologist is working with me and trying to find out what's going on. I have given up on Cymbalta and I'm ready to try something else. The side effects were not worth the benefits so we'll see. I want to see if I have the XMRV Virus so I will be demanding a blood test to find out, probably need to visit an ID Doctor to get it.

Well, I know the new doc I have is a firm believer in Fibro and I'm assuming CFS, as well. He's a regular internal med doc. If you want his name, PM me. He is on PIB in Berkley Lake.
