    • About Me

Recently married and turned the big three-oh this year. Just moved to Fresno because of job promotion. The job is very stressful but rewarding. Having to travel 3+ days per week has been taxing. Battling myofascial pain syndrome and constant upper back spasms and knots.

    • Close Chronic Pain

3 years ago I was rear-ended by a drunk driver at 4pm! I felt no pain then.. flash forward about 6 months I'm playing golf and I suddenly cannot turn my head in either direction. My neck/upper back have gone down hill on me since then. I can hardly sneeze without triggering the pain. I literally rolled over in bed too quickly one time and had to stay home from work! I was JUST diagnosed with Myofascial Pain Syndrome last week. Finally, at least I know what I'm dealing with!

      Treatments

      Acupressure Too Soon to Tell
I start next week. I'll keep you posted!
Chiropractic Adjustment Too Soon to Tell
Starting in a week or two. Will keep you posted!
      Flexeril Somewhat Helpful
I've been using before bed for a few months. It is effective at getting me to sleep but wears off quickly. I can't take it during the day because it makes me too sleepy.
      Heat Working / Worked
Works but the effects don't last long enough!
      Hydrocodone Working / Worked
If I need to get things done, a 500mg Vicodin will dull the pain long enough to get it off of my mind for 3 or 4 hours.
      Massage Working / Worked
Deep tissue massage seems to get rid of 90 of the pain for about 3 days. I get this done every other week.
      Meditation Too Soon to Tell
I'm just getting into this. I also started reading a book on energy psychiatry that has a lot of good information that I'm looking to incorporate into my lifestyle that should help.
      Mobic Somewhat Helpful
      Naproxen Not Working
NSAID's of this strength and less loss their affect on me when I was in high school.
      Pamelor Too Soon to Tell
Still on week 1, 10mg... having lots of dreams and better sleep. No pain relief yet!
      Physical Therapy Not Working
Been doing this for 3 years now.....

    • Open Anxiety

I've had panic attacks since age 19, when I started using metabolife. Now, almost 30, I don't have full-on attacks that often, thanks to medication, but I have background anxiety that could easily erupt into attacks every single day, if it weren't for ativan.

      Treatments

      Ativan Working / Worked
This is the only medicine that has consistantly worked for me.
      Breathing Exercises Somewhat Helpful
      Breathwork Somewhat Helpful
Sometimes you just don't have the time to get somewhere quiet and calm down... in fact, you usually don't have time to do so.
      BuSpar Not Working
      Lexapro Not Working
      Meditation Somewhat Helpful
I love meditation. Again, it's a matter of getting into a routine of doing so. I must create time to do this.
      Paxil Working / Worked
The first SSRI I ever tried. I stopped taking this around age 20 or 21 because I thought I was cured. A few months later, I started having attacks again. No SSRI has ever helped since.
      Positive Thinking Somewhat Helpful
I do believe that positive thinking and self talk are very useful anxiety-fighting tools. I haven't mastered them yet. I am a very optimistic person and think of myself as one of the more positive people in the world, but I need to remind myself to catch myself when having negative thoughts so I can counter with a positive thought.
St. John\'s Wort Working / Worked
      Xanax Working / Worked
The few times I've tried it, just as affective as Ativan.
      Zoloft Not Working
      Prozac Not Working
After a week of prozac I woke up one morning and everything was green for about 510 minutes.... scary.
      Effexor Not Working
      Wellbutrin Working / Worked
