I love being a Mom! I also couldn't live without music, art, beaches, photography and volunteering. I live in TN, and our State is called "The Volunteer State". ha ha. I fit right in. I live 20 miles from Graceland and enjoy our rich musical heritage and culture. I have also been involved with ChemoAngels, which has been a very rewarding experience. The other main passion in my life is organizing blood drives. We turn these donation events into parties! This idea came from my desperate need to find a way to help my Mother. She needs frequent blood transfusions. Since there is no cure for her disease, I started the blood drives in hopes of finding donors that had the same blood type as her. I found one! This person who is only 18 years old now gives directed donations just for my Mom. He said it meant so much to him to help give someone life. In my city we have one of the largest trauma centers in the Country and St. Jude Research Hospital is located here as well. Therefore, the need for blood and bone marrow donors greatly outweigh what our community donors could ever keep up with. Lifeblood (our local blood bank) has to rely on out of state resources to keep up with a continuous blood shortage. I have given so much blood that my Dr. ran a CBC and I now have Iron deficient anemia!
