Off And Running With My Mouth....
What a mood I am in today! I am feeling pissed off, joyous, righteous, sad, tired, hopeful..Geez, what a mess!

I am a 45-year-old mother of 3 kids, ages 13, 11 and 9. I am almost divorced, a nightmare that has taken over 2 years to accomplish. I was diagnosed with RA 11 years ago, although I have had mystery aches and pains for at leat 10 years previous to that. I was told I had Fibro back when it was called Fibrositis, but never believed it as I was usually able to get some relief from anti-inflammatories. I also have a long history of depression and was put on Cumbalta about a year ago. I believe that the Cymbalta has definetly helped with my perception of pain. I realized this when I saw my knuckles hot and swollen, but didn't feel it as much as one would expect. I believe it has the combination of Orencia and Cymbalta that has allowed me to start knitting and crocheting again..My hands look horrible and painful, but don't feel as bad, and that is fine with me!

KoKo, i am sorry it has taken me so long to get back to answering your message. alas, fields in gone in lake forest. they closed the doors a couple years ago. people were very upset. nothing has gone in there yet. they redid the whole market square with brick pavers. it really does look lovely. you know how those folks are--it has to look nice. a lot of some of the smaller stores have moved out, but it is all rented and looks great. i go to dr. jennifer capezzio at lake forest hospital for my rheum. dr. there is one in libertyville who is supposed to be very very good. i would remember the name if i heard it. i am in florida for the winter so i cannot look for you. wacaundo is still there; i believe they sold the orchard and put townhomes up. they did that somewhere is the vicinity. forgive all the spelling mistakes--too tired to correct them. have a nice valentine's day and stay in touch. twinks
someday people will really understand that a MOTHER knows what is best for her child---usually----most of the time. i congratulate you on making the right choices and doing what you thought was right. you go girl twinks
hope you are feeling better. distraction is the BEST; keeps the mind active, you cannnot find a better alternative to the reality that sometimes is not so great. twinks
koko, i am sorry about your experiences with the pred. i did hear that if you are on them too long your adrenal glands are compromised and they stop working. so, i think your first doctor may be right. sometimes i think all the meds are a double edged sword. if you hadn't taken the steroids, you might have felt worse for 11 years (might be small price to pay). it is something we never know. hindsight is always better. but i think you did the right thing for 11 years. write back. my best to you. twinks
all these immune diseases are horrible. i just came off steroids. felt incredible while on them. you say you take a small daily dose, may i ask how much that is. it was the only time in years i felt better. i would like to pursue this with my doctor. thank you. twinks
I was dx'd with RA when I was 34, just after my second child was born. I have been on most of the popular RA medications. I am currently taking Orencia, which has worked the best for me and it has worked the longest.
I have an 11-year-old son on the autistic spectrum who suffers with panic attacks. He started Paxil in October and is doing wonderful. I also have a 9-year-old daughter who has major anxiety so bad that I have had to take her out of school and homeschool her. She has her 1st Dr. appt w/psychiatrist this week.
