So excited. Just got home from seeing my primary doctor. It was a little neat to see the nurses reaction to me being smaller. I no longer need the big cuff for blood pressure! She was like, "wow girl, look at how small your arms are." Weighed in at 209 on their scales, 205 on mine at home. But of course I didn't get on the scale naked at the dr's office like I do at home. But still really good! My surgeons goal weight for me is 205 since I'm 5'10". So I guess I'm right there. But I still really want to get to 174 so that I can have that "normal" BMI. If I get this surgery I think I'll make it, if not get really close and I'll be happy with that.
I talked with the doctor about my skin issues, and that I wanted to pursue getting my upper and lower aprons removed. He is totally behind me and was happy to do the refferal, so he is calling this morning to set me up for an appointment to talk about skin reduction surgery!!! So either today or tomorrow, the plastic surgeons office will be calling me to set up the appointment for sometime in the next week or so. Yay!! He also said that I would probably lose at least 20 lbs from the skin removal and contouring.
I have had this hanging skin since I was 8 years old. I can't even express my excitement over the idea of it being gone forever. Even more important to me than the 140 lbs I've already lost is getting rid of this pannus.
This is what I want done:
1. Lower Body Lift ( pannus removal all the way around, butt/upper thigh lift, lipo/body contouring, abdominal muscle tightening )
2. Upper Body Lift ( Remove back fat rolls and narrow the waist. Any extra skin under the breasts or over the lower rib cage also removed. Tighten the skin under the breasts)
So it would be two separate surgeries spaced 3-4 months apart at least. I have Blue Cross as my insurance and I've already checked for coverage and I've got it! So now I just need to have the consult and get this ball rolling!

Callie I am so happy that Blue Cross will pay for your reduction surgery. My best friend had the GBS a little over 5 yrs now and I remember when she wanted to get a tummy tuck and thigh reduction she had to pay out of the pocket for it all. If I don't get covered when time comes I will be very disappointed because it means walking around with all that fat hanging. I am working hard to get rid of this horrible weight but will it be worth it in the end if I can't have all that ugliness removed.
I have a question, how do you figure out your BMI?
Congratulations, you go girl!!!!!
Hugs as always,
Margaret
