I moved to the USA 7 years ago aged 25 never having any signs of psoriasis. After a while it has progressed gradually until now I have outbreaks on my face, scalp, elbows ONE knee (?) and flare ups on my genitals :( My face and scalp is the worst as I am in sales and during an outbreak I see the looks from my customers and concern from management. It affects my confidence in my job and thus my performance. I just want it to go away. I use bethamethasone cream which works well but requires work

Treatments

Betamethasone (Topical) Somewhat Helpful

It works ok when I have plaque breakouts but difficult to apply to the scalp. Also the doctor only gives me small tubes of it and I think I really need to use a lot more to keep it at bay. Honestly vaseline works nearly as well for plaque outbreaks and I have used that when I have ran out of bethametasone before. Not quite as good but same principle.

Coal Tar Not Working

Couldn't really say whether this "helped" but it certainly didn't stop plaques appearing on my scalp. I still use it compared to regular shampoos as it seems silly not to.

Hydrocortisone Not Working

Pretty ineffective.
