About Me
Diabetic for 29 yrs. CAPD= 4yr. 9 months Transplant list for kidney and pancreas. I try to look at things as 'the glass is half full" philosophy. Because with any medical condition ATTITUDE IS VERY IMPORTANT.

Thanks - I also am diabetic and since he gave me prednisone today he told me to expect a high glucose level, but he gave me some insulin to control it, if it should arise. Hopefully now I will be able to get on the alpurinol. I really appreciate your input and I hope you are feeling well.

Close Anemia
I'm a peritoneal dialysis patient, currently on the transplant list for a kidney and pancreas. My anemia is pretty much controlled with Aranesp 25mcg every two weeks. On occasion my hemoglobin drops a bit, but then I'm instructed to take an extra dose of Aranesp. I've also had iron infusions (venover 200) in the past, it works great!
Treatments
- Aranesp Working / Worked
- Aranesp works great! the only thing I hate about is the stinging when it's injected. But my dialysis nurse taught me a trick. She told me to take out the aranesp filled syringe out of the fridge 15-20 minutes and let come to room temp, that way the pain is not as bad. Guess what? it does work.
Open Cataracts
Have been diabetic for the last 29yrs. I had cataracts at the age of 16 (due to diabetes) in both eyes.
Treatments
- Surgery Working / Worked
- My surgery worked great. The only problem since I also have stigmatism, I still wear glasses. But so grateful to be able to see the beauty around me!!
Open Gout
Treatments
- Allopurinol Working / Worked
- keeps my uric acid normal or close to normal
- Colchicine Working / Worked
- colchicine works great, I take it at the very first symptom (no matter how insignificant), and it stops the attack.
