Ellie didn't go home for three more hours. She spent them in Gia's car in the parking lot, kissing and touching, talking and laughing, experiencing so many things she'd never even known existed. Gia admitted her feelings for Ellie, saying she'd had a crush on her since the moment they met at the race. Ellie whispered back in disbelief that she felt exactly the same.
It was just about midnight when Gia finally took Ellie home, and Ellie didn't want to leave the car, afraid that the minute she did, she'd wake up in her bed having had an incredible dream.
"Don't look so worried," Gia said with a brilliant smile. She leaned across the car and tilted up Ellie's chin with her hand, kissing her softly. Ellie leaned toward Gia as she pulled away, searching for her lips in the darkness. Her body ached but... she just didn't know how to handle all of that, yet... if at all. Kissing would have to do for now.
"You're not going to run screaming when I see you again?" She asked, her stomach clenching at the thought.
    "Ellie, my feelings won't change."
Ellie couldn't help but smile back just as happily, before quickly kissing Gia again. She got out of the car, waving stupidly, happily, as she walked up the icy walkway to her front door.
She closed the door behind her, leaning against it, sighing heavily as she watched the tail lights go off down the block.
    "Have fun?"
Ellie screamed, but the scream was stopped short when strong hands clasped over her mouth. Male hands. Jason's hands. She flailed and managed to hit him over the back of the head. His hands dropped as his silhouette showed against the dark brown walls of the sun porch, which looked jet black in the darkness.
"Don't-" She hit him. "Do-" Again. "That!"
Jason half-heartedly fended off the blows, laughing as quietly as he could. Their parents must have been asleep already after their date night. Or something along those lines. Ew.
    "Your room. Now."
Ellie didn't argue- she needed to gush to someone about her evening. After tossing off her jacket as she went into the living and close the sun porch door behind them, she raced up the steep steps two at a time, Jason trudging along behind her, still laughing.
She started to pull off her sweater and put on a t-shirt as he came up the stairs.
"Good thing it's dark. Most sisters don't do that change in front of their brother shit." He grumbled, covering his eyes. He threw himself onto her mattress and waited as she pulled off her jeans and put on baggy pajama pants.
"Speak woman." He finally said as his patience level was reached.
She started on the text messages from the other night as she flopped down next to him, then went on to their evening. She even managed to tell him about the first kiss without stuttering or blushing too much- she was on such a high that she felt invincible and carefree. Jason watched her, his smile growing wider and wider.
"You look happy," He said, watching her after she'd finished with her long, mushy story. "It's nice to see you genuinely happy."
"I never had a- well, she's not actually my girlfriend, since there was no asking, but... I've never felt like this before, Jay," She said softly, rolling onto her stomach to look out the window just at the head of her bed. She could see into the street where the porch lights hit the pavement, where the car had been parked with Gia in it only a little while ago... she wished Gia was there with her.
Ellie heard vibrating coming from her jeans pocket, and it took her less than two seconds to get the phone out and the text message that had just come through open.
When can I see you again? If you want to see me.
Ellie squealed in delight. Jason took that as his cue to leave. He ruffled his sister's hair as he passed her and went down the stairs, closing her the door at the bottom of the stairs after Gizmo had gone up to Ellie in his place.
I definitely want to see you. You can come over whenever you would like. Or we can go somewhere whenever you would like, too. I just... want to see you, too.
    So tomorrow then? ;)
Ellie rocked side to side with her legs tucked up under her indian-style, still on a high from Gia's lips on hers all evening... and now this? She was definitely in a dream.
You can come over and spend the day with me if you would like. We could watch a movie here in my room. Or we could make a snowman. And my mother makes some mean hot chocolate, but she and my dad are going to get a new bedding set tomorrow.
Really? The day? What time can I come?
As soon as you want to.
    So now then?
Ellie laughed and shook her head, feeling lighter than air.
How about tomorrow morning. If I'm still asleep because you get here early just come straight upstairs. The door will be unlocked if no one answers the doorbell.
Really? I can just come in?
    Sure, why not?
    I just wasn't expecting it.
If you're uncomfortable with it, if it's too fast, then just wait til later.
No, I'll be there first thing in the morning. Too late to change my mind now!
Good. I can't wait to see you, Gia. And this may be a stupid question but uhm... what exactly are we?
We'll discuss that in person, ok? I'd rather this be an in person conversation.
Should I be worried? Are you going to run away now?
Only if you're going to run away with me.
Ok, good. It's a plan, then. Forget my dreams of becoming a doctor, let's run away!
You're a goof. Get some sleep. That way I can have you all day.
    Will do. Goodnight, Gia.
    Goodnight, darlin'. :) Sweetest dreams.
Ellie closed her phone, turned it on high, and plugged it in so that it wouldn't die during the night, and if she got a text from that adorable girl she would hear it no matter what time it was. She crawled into bed and couldn't fall asleep for quite a while... but when she did, all she could see in her mind was Gia's beautiful smiling face, with the hope that she would see it first thing in the morning, too.
