About Me
I am mainly looking for others who may feel as I do that amputation is an inconvenience, but becomes a disability only when the patient gives in to self pity. I had the distinct advantage of knowing well in advance the odds of inevitable amputation, so perhaps that slants my perspective a lot, and the other factor is I'm FIERCELY independent and often offend well meaning souls who offer assistance. I need to remember to play nicely with the kind people in life; sometimes, I do forget!

Oh gosh, can't do much in 500 or less! Check my journal entry for the 4 - 1 - 1 on me. Warning, I AM WORDY whenever I write, so my first entry was pretty long!
Treatments
- Physical Therapy Too Soon to Tell
- So far, pretty good. "Sarge" as I call Troy is a combination taskmaster and cheerleader for me. One week and one day after surgery, and I made it about 200 feet with the walker, and tomorrow we're supposed to work with crutches!
Close Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)
I'm not diagnosed officially with DVT but the doctors have hinted pretty strongly at it, and trying to get me to take anticoagulants, but due to several factors and my own preferences, I've been refusing.
