Spinal Fusion Somewhat Helpful

Spinal fusion in 1979, very traumatized, I wore a full body cast for 9 months, it was awful. I understand that the surgery and recovery are much easier now. I dont have a rod in my back, there was a complication during my surgery where it slipped through my bone - I was told because my bones are very soft and thin. And there is no way to re-insert it. Thats probably why my curve is so much worse and I've had so many problems.

Close Chronic Pain

I have very severe scoliosis and I had a spinal fusion in 1979. I have severe chronic pain in my back and right leg. My scoliosis has gotten worse over the years even though I've had surgery. I'm to the point where I can't stand up straight, constant pain, and some trouble breathing. I finally had to stop working in Oct 2006 and go on disability. I have a 14 yr old daughter and 3 cats.

Treatments

Heat Somewhat Helpful

Sometimes it helps a little so I can get out of bed, I'm very stiff and lots of pain in the mornings

Methadone Somewhat Helpful

I've been taking for approx 8 yrs

Morphine Somewhat Helpful

Nerve Blocks Not Working

They dont seem to help much

Oxycodone Somewhat Helpful
