I am 43 yrs old and I have severe scoliosis. I had a spinal fusion in 1979 when I was 14. I've had crippling pain most of my adult life. I was diagosed too late for anything but surgery. I dont have a rod due to a problem during the surgery. My curve has gotten worse and I have severe chronic pain in my back and my right leg and sometimes trouble breathing. I had to quit working in 2006 and am now on disability. I'm divorced with a 14 yr old daughter Christine

Reading, my cats, I have 3 -Baby, Cindy and Peekie. I love animals and I take care of homeless and feral cats. Right now there are 7 of them. I wish more people cared about them.

Thank you so much for your welcome and for your Hug. A great, big Hug back to you! I think DS is doing a wonderful thing here and we can all certainly benefit from the support of one another.
I've only lived in Copperas Cove for a little over 5 years. Both of my boys are grown and on their own and my mother is widowed and terminally ill, so I moved out here to be with her. I really miss Georgia, though. It is a wonderful place to live. It kills me being away from my youngest son. My oldest son moved out here a year ago because all of this has just complicated my depression and he wanted to be here to support me emotionally.
I am new here and didn't know about your birthday, of course. So, a belated Happy Birthday to you!

Treatments
- Spinal Fusion Somewhat Helpful
- Spinal fusion in 1979, very traumatized, I wore a full body cast for 9 months, it was awful. I understand that the surgery and recovery are much easier now. I dont have a rod in my back, there was a complication during my surgery where it slipped through my bone - I was told because my bones are very soft and thin. And there is no way to re-insert it. Thats probably why my curve is so much worse and I've had so many problems.
Close Chronic Pain
I have very severe scoliosis and I had a spinal fusion in 1979. I have severe chronic pain in my back and right leg. My scoliosis has gotten worse over the years even though I've had surgery. I'm to the point where I can't stand up straight, constant pain, and some trouble breathing. I finally had to stop working in Oct 2006 and go on disability. I have a 14 yr old daughter and 3 cats.
Treatments
- Heat Somewhat Helpful
- Sometimes it helps a little so I can get out of bed, I'm very stiff and lots of pain in the mornings
- Methadone Somewhat Helpful
- I've been taking for approx 8 yrs
- Morphine Somewhat Helpful
- Nerve Blocks Not Working
- They dont seem to help much
- Oxycodone Somewhat Helpful
