About Me
I am the oldest of five kids. Because of all of my medical problems I am now back living with my parents.I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in 2000. I also have primary sclerosing cholangitis, hyperthyroidism, bipolar disorder, constanst diarrhea, a heart murmmer, dumpping syndrome, ovarian cysts, peritneal cysts, low potassium, low blood pressure, low sodium, acute renal failure, right upper extremity dvt, vent. tachycardia, chronic pain syndrome, tenosynovitis, anxiety, migraine headaches, pulmonary nodules, positional hypertension, and syncope.

I love sports (football, baseball/softball, and basketball), bowling, pool, reading, music, hanging with friends at the bar. being with family and friends.going to the movies, texting and talking on the phone, shopping(shoes, jeans, purses, make-up)tutoring, community service and volunteering my time to the boys and girls club.

Close Crohn's Disease & Ulcerative Colitis
I was diagnosed in 2000 with Ulcerative Colitis. I was 17 and a senoir in high school at the time. after about 1 1/2 years and being on high doses of setroid the doc couldnt help any more and i had to have my whole colon removed in June 2001
Treatments
- Asacol Somewhat Helpful
- worked for a while then stopped working
- Avoid Certain Foods / Chemicals Working / Worked
- as long as i stay away from red meat, all veggies, all fruit, most dairy , spicy food... i am usually fine
- Azathioprine Somewhat Helpful
- Azulfidine Somewhat Helpful
- Flagyl Working / Worked
- since i had the surgeries in 2001 i get what they call pouchitis almost once a month. and they use flagyl as the antibiotic. at frist it worked great. but because i get the pouchitis so often i now have to use the flagyl and cipro together
- Lomotil Working / Worked
- i use lomotil 2 mg 2 capsules tid daily to help and i do notice that is still does help me to a point
- Prednisone Not Working
- it did not help at all..... it would only help on high dosages.....then when the doctor would try to slowly tapper me down i would get even sicker
- Surgery Working / Worked
- i had my whole colon rectum and appendix removed. had my ostomy bag taken down and have a "j pouch"i also had a stent balloon put in my bile duct and removed and then this year i had 2 small bowel obstructions that had to be surgically removed.
Close Bipolar Disorder
for the past ten years i have thought i was depressed and was hiding the fact from my family my joking and making fun of all my medical problems. then a few months ago i began to seek help for the depression. last month i was diagnosed with bipolar disorder while 2 weeks into a manic episode.
Treatments
- Seroquel Too Soon to Tell
- I was just diagnosed about 3 almost 4 weeks ago and the doctor but me on the lowest dosage he could just to introduce it into my body. I have many medical issues. He will be increasing the medication the next visit.
- Topamax Working / Worked
- I actually take the topamax for migraine headaches and it normally works pretty well. but lately I have been getting some really bad migraines where nothing will take the pain away
Open Anemia
Type: Iron Deficiency Anemiawhen i first got sick with ulcerative colitis my hemoglobin was at 5.1 and i had to get 5 units of blood transfusion. after that for a year and a half a would have a blood tranfusion once a month. i am now iron diff. anemic and recieve blood transfusions when my hemoglobin reaches 8.0

- doesnt work at all... my hemogloin rarely reaches 10

- i just started taking the medication next month they will raise the dosage.

- i take this while in the hospital it does work for a while.

- it does work but my insurance will not cover it.

- yes it works for my migraine headaches,but lately the migraines have been getting stronger.

because of all my medical issues and medications i need to watch my weight and stay as healthy as i can

- i used to do it. but i would just get depressed if i eat too much or started to eat junk food when keeping the diary so i would start to cheat and not log things and the it wouldnt work

- my sisters and a couple of their friends do zumba and i am thinking of trying it.

- with my cable tv i have free exercise videos which i have been doing every other morning.
Open Hyperthyroidism
i was diagnosed in april 2008. i was in the hospital at the time and they thought i was having a heart attack. turns out i have ventricular tachycardia due to the hyperthroidism.

- as long as the doctor calls in the rx when i need it so i can keep taking it as directed it works.
Open Insomnia
i have been an insomniac for over a year. instead of just laying in bed most nights i will get up and clean my bedroom, crochet blankets, or doodle pictures.

- it used to work for months but because i have been on it for a year now it is not working any more at the strength i am taking.
- Reading Not Working
- i can not read before going to bed because i have to finish the book, i can not stop reading in the middle and put the book down.
