I am a 30 year old mother of four that has been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, rhemitiod arthritis, and degenertive disc desease in 2003 I have four girls, my yougest is deaf. My 8 year old was resently diagnosed with ADHD. I have battled depression for most of my life, I suffer from anxiety and panic disorders, I have also been diagnosed with having Post tramatic stress disorder in 2003 also. I am a recovering alcholic I haven't drank scence 2001

Sweetie you are doing all the right things so far. The earlier she gets started on her education the better. If you want the best for your daughter I STRONGLY encourage you to get to know me. I can share with you the methods my Mom used...because ...take a look at my profile. I am deaf-blind since birth. Congenital Rubella Syndrome. Doctors said I would never be smart. Would be mentally retareded etc. Mom refused to believe that and did otherwise. It is VERY VERY important to ...in addition to the education system, to also do your OWN education with her. My mom worked with me TWO HOURS EVERY DAY on speech. I now have the speech of a hearing person. I am now 43. I have a BA degree. It took a LONG time and a heck of a lot of work to get it. Your daughter CAN achieve these type of things. FYI--I advise AGAINST the CI, --for now. What caused your daughter's deafness?? Sign is the best way to go. seriously. I also encourage you to get involved in the deaf community. Especially parents with children. There is a lot out there for you to learn. There is another book I HIGHLY recomend. The history of deaf culture....will need to get the exact title for you. Its a HUGE book and your city's biggest library probably has it. Well worth the read. I strongly urge you to use the close caption on the tv as early as you can with her. Please do not hesitate to contact me.
