Nasty Allergies
Since October I have suffered terribly with what I believe to be environmental allergies, I've been in and out of the hospital several …
I am 49 years old, from upstate New York. I am a doll apparel designer. I have four children, Melissa 25, Krissy 24, Brian 19, and Bethany, my baby, is 14 going on 22. I have a wonderful wonderful husband, whom I adore with all my heart. I am suffering from bad environmental allergies which has led to severe anxiety for the past few months. I had to give my beloved dog away and my kitten too, which was quite depressing. I cannot be anywhere near anyone who owns an animal, which makes life a real challenge. I feel like I've been sentenced to solitary confinement for a crime that I did not commit.

I read on the msg board that you have trouble finding dairy-free chocolate. My doctor recommended chocolate to keep up blood sugar and prevent nausea, and I have found that high-quality very dark varieties are generally dairy-free. Hope you can find some!
Also I totally second the idea to start taking probiotics - they really help with digestion and especially if you are off dairy you should be supplementing with them.
So sorry to read that you can't keep your animals! Have you looked into hypoallergenic pets? Animal therapy is so crucial!
Thanks Holly! I really appreciated your comments. I can't wait to try making some things from scratch, although I did find a tasty GF bread and dairy free yogurt too (the GF tortillas were kinda icky though... I just want to find one that's pure corn. Or make them!)
I saw your post about Cooking Allergy Free website - thank you!
Might also be helpful to start taking the probiotic acidophilus---that's a yeast killer and it's not expensive.
I became severely allergic to Animal Dander in October 08. It is so bad, that I cannot go anywhere near anyone that has been in contact with animals. When my kids come home, they know to change their clothes immediately. This has affected my entire life, and I am basically homebound at this point. Due to no medical insurance, I have not yet been able to afford the allergist or any tests involved.
