Chocolate
Gloria, a bit of pretend chocolate for you...the only good thing about a picture is that there are no calories!
I wanted to add that the side effects Tommy currently has most likely will change if he should ever have to try a different treatment in the future. My husband's primary side effects with Nexavar is complete baldness (eyebrows and all), high blood pressure and blisters on his feet. Other drugs did other things, he'd have so much hair with one drug, I had to trim his eyelashes because they grew so long they'd bump into his glasses! With some drugs my husband got terrible diarrhea, heart burn, or blisters in his mouth. Interestingly, the 2nd round on Nexavar is less invasive to his body. So, with the exception of the baldness, he is really looking good and feeling better than he has in a long time. So, it is possible to get a break from the suffering and still do well with the treatments.
Enjoy the calorie free chocolate I'm sending you and know that I am thinking of you and hoping that you will feel better very soon. You've been through a lot lately with the wedding and all. Your coping reserve may be a bit low and so it is time for you to recharge yourself. Too bad we didn't discover that we both live in the same place. We could have a caretaker's day off to pamper ourselves.
Do take care of yourself Gloria.
Linda
So try not to worry about Tommy just getting worse side effects. He will have bad days. If he is having too much trouble, you may want to talk to the doctor about other kinds of supportive treatments such as massage or acupuncture. My husband did massage, therapeutic yoga, and some heat treatments that I can't recall the name of. These things helped.
Thanks
Hello Gloria,
Thanks so much for writing. I have been missing you. How are things going?
Thankfully, Ray is still feeling pretty well. He isn't on any RCC drugs, since the Sutent almost killed him last July. We are so very grateful that the lung tumors haven't grown. He'll have another CTscan on November 24th, which will be a very stressful appointment....as you well know. Each good day is a blessing.
Love, Ingrid

If you can hold down a job or two?....care for and support your husband and other family members...and help your daughter have a wonderful wedding memory, you are some Superhero! Don't worry about anything not be "good enough"....just getting through everything is more than good enough it is outstanding!

Close Renal Cell Carcinoma (Kidney Cancer)
Treatments
- Nephrectomy Working / Worked
- Husband had 5.5 cm clear cell tumor removed with left kidney 9/18/08. Laparascopic surgery went well. No other involvement. Stage 1b pathology. We were ecstatic and optimistic. Three month check up revealed several lung nodules ranging from less than 5mm to 1.5 cm. We are flaggergasted. Needle biopsy to be scheduled. Then I guess they will recommend treatment options. I want to go to Sloan Kettering for opinion. Can anyone relate to this situation?
