Thanks so much for your kind message! I hope that you can find some answers to your pain. Look for a good pain management doc or clinic in NYC, there should be many. I see BreathEasy is also a friend. She's had a LOT of experience with pain meds! She really knows what she's talking about. But the biggest worry most docs will have regarding your copd and pain meds is breathing suppression. But there are several other ways to relieve pain, so it's worth the exploration. I hope that you and I can be friends! In my younger, wilder days, I used to live in NYC, studying to be a singer. Lived on the west side near 72nd. Have a good day today! Hugs, Sue

I think that you are right to be careful with any new medication, including Chantix. And I think you are wise to examine all of your different options. I also recommend trying different things if necessary - if you aren't successful, change things, make a new plan and try again. Keep at it until you find the right combination that works for you. It's out there, but if you don't keep trying, you won't find it!

Im on Champix too. Took almost 5 weeks to quit 100% but made it and have remained quit for 18 days today.
Tried everything from, gum, patches, hypnotherapy before and never made it to quit.

hello its Deb from the no smoking group. Just thought I would send you a hug. Whats great about the main group you posted in is that there are people from all over the world so hopefully if you are posting looking for help there is usually someone on line. I know quitting is hard but I was such a heavy smoker and smoked for 36 years. I was still smoking as I nursed my beautiful MUM who died from a smoking related illness, When she died I thought I would quit as a tribute to her. I have been quit 4 and a half months. If I can quit anyone can. I think this quit has been different because of this support group. They always helped me when I posted. The encouraged me, sympathised with me, cheered me on and gave me some tough love when I needed it.ITS great you are part of our group so that we can help you too Hugss Deb

I have a great therapist that listens. I dont always agree with him but he has my highest respect.
      Paxil Working / Worked
I used this in the past for less than a year. It worked well but the truth is that the side affects when weaning off this drug are not to be desired at all. It took about 4 months to wean off and i went to celexa. Having said that Paxil does work though

      Remeron Working / Worked
Works extremly well for insomnia. I have been taking it since December of 2008 and it is safer than seroquel which I had been taking to sleep.
