Close High Blood Pressure
High blood pressure not responding well to atenolol; other meds give me stomach burning/acid reflus.
Treatments
- Atacand Working / Worked
- Worked but gives me burning in my stomach and a little acid reflux.
- Atenolol Working / Worked
- Works about half as well as it used to.
- Lisinopril Working / Worked
- Worked, but gave me stomach burning/acid reflux.
Close Anxiety
Hello all, I am a 65 year old married female from Englewood, Florida. I am a substitute teacher, and I enjoy kayaking, walking, reading, and traveling. I'm a real professional at this anxiety thing. I come from an "anxious" birth family! I'm looking forward to sharing my experiences with others and hopefully we can all help each other. tropicalmom2
Treatments
- Acupuncture Working / Worked
- Didn't work. Too expensive.
- Meditation Working / Worked
- I am taking a yoga class at my gym which includes meditation. I'm beginning to get the hang of it. Also, I've read "A New Earth" by Eckhart Tolle--about living in the present moment and that has helped, but I need to a little refresher course.
- Positive Thinking Working / Worked
- Always working on this!!
- Doxepin Working / Worked
- It is a tricyclic antidepressant. I have been taking a very small dose 10mg for over 20 years. It does help me sleep and when I do go off it for a few days I do think I feel a little weird.
Open Interstitial Cystitis (IC)
I have urethral syndrome; not exactly IC, but close. It does respond to macrodantin.
Treatments
- Macrobid Working / Worked
- Macrodantin, taken once a day, works for me.
Open Gastritis
I have had gastritis as result of taking new blood pressure meds. When I go off them, the gastritis goes away or at least is lessened greatly, but I have to be on the BP meds!
Open GERD & Heartburn
I was dx with a slight case of GERD in 2002. Never did anything about it. Got careless by doing things like taking aspirin on an empty stomach for years, etc. It has really flared up in the last 2 months, especially when I tried new blood pressure meds. I take famotidine 20mg. 2 x a day. Cannot take PPI's due to another med I take that needs food and acid to work. This is making me anxious and depressed.
Treatments
- Avoid Certain Foods / Chemicals Working / Worked
- Pepcid Working / Worked
- Works better than nothing.
Open Hysterectomy
Had a hysterectomy and oopherectomy in 1981. Trying to taper off hormones.
