I'm just another person making my way through this crazy world that I don't understand! Just want what most do: to feel good, be happy, feel like my life has some meaning. I live in Wisconsin with my "significant other", 3 kids, and 2 cats. I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism in 1999 and Fibromyalgia in 2004.

Music, music & more music!! Dance, theatre, art... Reading, writing...Making things (art, music, jewelry, cards, crafts...) Nature, spending time outdoors, camping, fishing, boating, walking & sitting in the woods... movies, Medical mystery/diagnosis shows (go figure!!) Learning. Come to think of it...pretty much everything interests me to some extent!

Close Fibromyalgia
I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in 2004.
Treatments
- 5-HTP Too Soon to Tell
- Cyclobenzaprine Not Working
- It made me a zombie. I could not function when on this drug.
- Elavil Not Working
- I took this for a short time and did not see any improvement.
Close Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
I have not been diagnosed with CFS by a doctor but I feel all the symptoms fit. I have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia which seems like it may possibly be the same thing as or related to CFS/ME.
Open Hypothyroidism
I have had chronic health problems since 1998. I was diagnosed hypothyroid around 1999/2000. Since then I have also been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia.
Treatments
- Cytomel Somewhat Helpful
- This seemed to work for a short time when I was first taking it along with Synthroid. I even lost some weight! I felt better and had more energy. After a few months, I slowly gained the weight back and went back to the way I felt before starting the Cytomel.
- Synthroid Working / Worked
- Working - according to my lab results. Not according to how I feel!! (I still have all the symptoms though...maybe just not as bad as before diagnosis/treatment)
Open Diabetes Type 1
My youngest son was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes when he was 1 1/2 years old.

I have not been officially diagnosed but I know I have anxiety problems...probably due to/aggravated by my other health problems and family/relationship issues. I have been diagnosed with hypothyroidism and fibromyalgia.

- Always helps at least for a short time.

Open GERD & Heartburn
I was diagnosed with GERD in 2007.

- Antacids Working / Worked
- Sometimes works for a short time.
- Prilosec Working / Worked
- Worked sometimes but I gained weight so it was not worth it to keep up with it.
- Raising Bed Position Not Working
- Did not notice a difference and kept sliding down so feet would be off bed...very annoying!
Open Kidney Stones
My son suffers from Cystinuria (Cystine Stones). He was diagnosed in 2007 when he was 7 years old.
Treatments
- Surgery Working / Worked
- Of course it works to get out existing stones...does not prevent more stones from forming.
Open Chronic Pain
I have been suffering chronic pain since about 2002. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in 2004.
Treatments
- Chiropractic Adjustment Working / Worked
- Seemed to at least help but couldn't afford to keep going.
- Flexeril Working / Worked
- Seems to help the pain but turns me into a zombie. Worsens other symptoms like brain fog.
- Heat Working / Worked
- It helps.
- Hydrocodone Working / Worked
- Definately helps but can't function on it - so only take it occasionally and only at bedtime. Knocks me out!
Open Depression
I believe I have problems with depression due to my own chronic health conditions and dealing with my son's chronic health conditions . I have hypothyroidism and fibromyalgia. Depression also runs in my family.
Treatments
- Elavil Not Working
- Tried this when prescribed for my fibromyalgia. Didn't seem to help. Didn't like how I felt when on it and gained weight.
- Positive Thinking Working / Worked
- Seems to help when I can force myself.
- Psychotherapy Working / Worked
- Definately helps when I can keep up with appointments.
- Support from Friends & Family Working / Worked
- Helps when I can get it.
- Writing Working / Worked
- Helps.
