I am a college Air Traffic Control Instructor with a wonderful husband, beautiful, super talented daughter and loyal and devoted dog. I love to make people laugh and enjoy spending time with friends. I don't like knowing I have acromegaly but know I need to be informed and learn to live with it the best I possibly can to be able to enjoy everyday to the fullest.

Hi Trema biggest of hugs...Flouncy and I had a big support night at our hospital we both attend it was good as we heard about other conditons and some questions answered I got my cured one answered and everyone heard so Im happy...Also we had a cup of tea and a chat with fellow people with our conditon that was cool although there was not many a handful it was nice to meet in person..There is a question will you write a journal of some of the things discussed :) or put a brief piece in discussions if you have time be cool and interesting what they think from different parts of the world JJ

Close Acromegaly
I have been struggling with the changes that acro brings for 15 or more years. I was diagnosed in 2005 and have had 3 surgeries in the past 2 years. The last two were in my mind a waste of time and the final on left me without a pituitary gland and residual tumor on my C. artery that they can't remove. I am dealing with the physical changes & emotions of all this and struggle at times. I need a support group of people who are going through what I am going through and share their knowledge.
Treatments
- Octreotide Working / Worked
- I am on Samotuline 120 mg injections. It seems to work better over the first 3 or so weeks with the swelling of my hands/feet and facial areas. It makes me sick if I eat fatty or rich foods or if I drink alcohol. This is probably a blessing, but I will miss eating steaks and having drinks with friends.
