Hi #yrColdDriving: Welcome, this is a good site for people who have gambling addiction and need support. There is nothing you can't tell us since we all in the same boat before. We learn from each other's story and experience. On our way to recovery, we also make friends who will support us no matter what.

Close Gambling Addiction & Recovery
500 characters will never get it done. In brief, I am an adult child of parents that were mentally ill, alcoholic, abusive, and or codependent. I was virtually raised by nine-yr olds. (My older siblings) I am over half a century old, went through drug treatment at 20. I am just beginning to understand and repair the damage that my dysfunctional parents inflicted.
Treatments
- Distancing Somewhat Helpful
- Abstinence, actually staying away from the people, places and things that encompass my gambling works when I am motivated to do it.
- Gamblers Anonymous Somewhat Helpful
- I have not found this too helpful in my town for a couple of reasons - there is only one meeting per week, sponsors have not been reliable, group here is very small and can't keep a treasurer. (Imagine that a compulsive gambling that can't handle the money>)
- Self-help Somewhat Helpful
- Through some selfhelp books I have found that my compulsions to gamble and inability to set limits for myself is directly proportional to my selfesteem. The more I take care of myself in a loving manner the less I want to gamble. I am trying to learn to become a good parent to myself.
