since surgery things have just gone up~!
I'm from Tokyo, Japan living in the states now and pretty much enjoying myself. UC made a big impact on my life but I'm learning to manage it so things are getting better! I'm a student taking a medical gap year between my senior year of high school and freshman year at uni. I started off at university this september and then was diagnosed with UC in early october. Gahh i never want to have to live through those months againnnn. i came home in early november and spent just about that whole month in the hospital because none of the steroids or mesalamines seemed to be working for me. After one dose of remicade things calmed down enough for me to decide to have a colectomy. It was definitely the right decision. Right now I'm living with the ileostomy while i wait to have 2 more surgeries to create a J pouch. Feel free to ask any questions, n remember to try and stay positive through all of this!!!

Well Thanks, but I don't feel like a hero, but I sure feel a heck of alot better than a year ago. The ileostomy does get old quickly, but it will be gone soon. Best of luck on getting your life back! I even enjoyed going back to middle school. GO FIGURE!!!
I just took a pain killer myself so Im feeling good too. Yes Im looking forward to surgery and regaining my life back. You have really helped me so much in all of this. Keep me updated. I will let you know when I need to go to surgery. I will pray for your healing to go well.
just wishing you the best.. and nothing but success in your life's ventures and in your health.. :D

Oh I am doing so much better than I was. I am glad to hear you are feeling like you have your life back. I know how it goes. I am starting to get the hang of leaving the house and not feeling like my world is going to collapse. I am so happy for you that you have your next surgery scheduled (a little jealous). I am hoping my surgeon will schedule mine in my appt. this week. Hey maybe we will have it done close to the same time! My birthday is in April and as awful as it sounds I may want it done on my b-day. It would be like happy b-day all of this is almost over! I understand your fears about the surgery. Trust me I have nightmares about it every night and I don't even have mine scheduled. I feel like something will go wrong and I am so scared but we just have to trust the surgeons and have faith. Let me know if I can be a friend in any way I am here for you even though you might feel alone in all of this. Oh and thanks for being here for me!
Diagnosed with UC early october 2008, have had a colectomy in November and am currently living with an ileostomy while waiting to have 2 more surgeries that will put in a place a J pouch/new colon! I am so psyched not to have to take meds and not be worried about living with a disease for the rest of my life!
