About Me
I am a 56 year old mother, grandmother and wife. I work full time running clinical trials for medical products. I have been in chronic pain for 5 years due to degenerative disc disease and chronic myofascial pain. The last year has been the hardest of my life due to debilitating trigger points and pain. I am starting to come out on the other side after working very hard to get my muscle tone back with exercise in combination with Myobloc injections and Active Release therapy (which is not covered by insurance). A year ago I was ready to throw in the towel but I kept at it because of my family and am so glad I did. I would be so much better if I didn't have to work, as working at a computer and driving make me so much worse. Hopefully, I can retire early because they will not consider me for disability and I can't afford not to work. I try to be optimistic and be there for my family and friends, but sometimes that is hard to do. I rarely mention my pain to anyone - I figure they don't really want to hear about it and it doesn't make it better to talk about it- so it is nice to have a place where I can discuss it.

I was sorry to hear about your blood clot. Hope that is resolved soon and you can get back to your Botox treatments. Your comment about how priorities change reminded me of this quote by John Lennon, "Life is what happens when you are planning other things". That is so true. I will keep you posted about the prolotherapy and keep me updated on your situation. Take care.

Open Chronic Pain
I started having chrinic back (neck) pain about 4 years ago. Was diagnosed with DDD and spinal stenosis. I have had 3 surgeries 2 ACDF (C5-7) and a decompression. I developed chronic myofascial pain after the third surgery and am now in more pain than before. Botox injections, pain meds and active release therapy are giving me some relief.
