About Me
I'm 27 years old with a five year old son. I work as video editor in a small-ish town. I've had symptoms of N and cataplexy for the last 13 years - finally diagnosed in 2008. I actually cried when the dr told me I wasn't crazy and it wasn't all in my head. I don't have anyone in my life that knows what N is - so I'm giving this "support group" thing a try.

Close Narcolepsy
When I turned 14 I started sleeping all the time - 20 or 22 hours a day on the weekends. When I turned 16 I started falling asleep in class, in the car and watching TV. At night I would see "someone" outside my bedroom window breaking-in. When I would laugh, I couldn't hold my head up and I would drop whatever I was holding. By the time I was 18, I was falling asleep when I was walking, talking, eating and even exercising. I became the butt of every joke in my family.
Treatments
- Provigil Somewhat Helpful
- The first two days I felt like crap - nausea, terrible headaches and every muscle in my body hurt. Every time I moved it felt like my brain was hitting my skull. Since then I've had a headache every day - Tylenol and Advil have no effect on it.
