I owe you an apology. I was dishing out advice I couldn't keep for myself. Just realized it. I have had an extremely abusive family that has been running over my soul for years. I am pitiful at standing up to them. Seems like I need to be a friend to myself and not allow it anymore. I also don't want my girls to see there mother treated like that any further. It is going to be hard but I am standing up today.

Joe, that is no way to live and you knew it as you were writing the words to me. What are you going to do about it? How would you feel if your son married a woman like that? Is she like that with your son? SHe needs help. Take her to a psychologist or a church leader. Or get an apartment because you don't have a home with her and that is no way to live. If you leave she might get a clue that she needs help.

sometimes people's names pop up and your did so hi, I am Holliday and I love junk food too but I have an idea for you. My girls are little and are really chubby and my wake-up call came when my nine year old became bigger than me! She is a really big kid - she is almost 5' and weighs 144 pounds. I am 5' 2" and 160 but somehow she looks bigger than me. So I am having to change our eating habits away from junk food. What I am doing is making good snacks with fruit. Apples w/ peanut butter is one of our favorites becuase it helps your body feel full for hours and it has the protien factor. Crunchy peanut butter is the best. And bananas there is so much you can do with bananas! We have been making peanut butter and banana sandwhiches (so awesome! & instead of jelly you get the natural fruit). Try this: Gram cracker w/ peanut butter (tiny bit of salt) layer of banana and then a tiny bit of colored sugar sprinkles. I don't know how young your son is but little ones love the colored sprinkles. This treat is best with organic peanut butter - the whole stuff and that is why I add sugar & salt, the other stuff has it added with other crap like the hydrogenated oils like candy bars which means it will rot in your arteries - FOREVER!!!! Another thing we do is smoothies with ice, non-fat milk, 2 teaspoons of vanilla and bananas (and I do add sugar here as well but just a couple of tablespoons but I thought that we could switch to splenda which is no calorie sugar) and it is a yummy vanila-banana shake and it fills us up and it is sweet and yummy. But just eating the fruits that are in season with a little chocolate to dip them in is okay. Make them fun to eat and you will still have the same kind of joy without the guilt ;o) Your body really needs these fruits (and veggies - but that I can't help you with now - he he) but candy bars are still okay sometimes and you shouldn't beat yourself up over it. Your wife should have the book form Dr. Laura, The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands! or she really needs some psychiatric help w/ some medication to help her OCD? My husband is a pill about keeping our house clean everyday so I can relate but I do have my own art studio space to retreat to where me and the girls can keep in a "creative mess". Does she know that you leave to go eat? Maybe she would work with her attitude w/ you. My husband is actually working on his and I am astounded!!! Well, best of luck and if you find any cool food combos let me know! - Holliday
