      Type: Clinical (Major) Depression

      I call it "emotional pain syndrome" since most of the negative messages associated with depression are still persistent, but I have been trained to not reacte to them. "Depression-like" symptoms keep popping up, but I am continuously working to stay ahead of them.

      Treatments

      Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Working / Worked
      One of the best treatments for me. In fact, I have been told I have cognitive depression as opposed to clinical depression.
      Meditation Working / Worked
      Listening to the messages and countering them with positive affirmations.
      Positive Thinking Working / Worked
      In the form of positive affirmations.
      Psychotherapy Working / Worked
      I have a good therapist, but I can't afford to see her right now.
      Support from Friends & Family Working / Worked
      I have a strong support system.
      Writing Working / Worked
      I've been keeping a journal since 1991.
      Physical Exercise Working / Worked
      I am training for a marathon participate in crossfit training and have joined a mixed martial arts class.
