    • About Me

Single Dad (43) of a 14 year old daughter. Mom relocated and lives 1100 miles away. My daughter spends her summer vacations with her. My Ex is a great friend and we speak on a regular basis. Family is important but I need to do a much better job of staying in touch. I have two dogs (Jack Russell - "Jack") and a new Beagle "Cole". I shy away from social situations but am working to improve that.

    • Interests

I enjoy sports , running (gym), hiking / mountain biking and gardening. (Nothing like getting your hands in the soil.) I like to watch college basketball -(Terps), Football - (Ravens) and Soccer. I like all types of music and copy some of my daughters music onto my IPod even though she jokes that I am old. Imagine that coming from a teenager.

Glad your trying to stay positive. It isn't always easy, but if you can..its a step in the right direction. Raising kids is hard...its amazing how much they change and in a quick amount of time to. I have 3 and I tell you my oldes is as tall as me now....eek...she is not my baby anymore. turns 13 next week. Man, me a parent of a teenager....yikes!

Thanks so much for the message of support. I am very thankful for my boyfriend. He is a treasure. He has been working on my car now for three days. He is just steady at it. I still get lonely on days when I am alone. I am going to start going to the Wellness Center and walking and hope to make some new friends there. Thanks again. take care, love, tqueen2

    • Close Parenting Teenagers (12-18)

Single Parent - have a 14 year daughter. She was diagnosed with anxiety which has kept her out of school for the past 3 months. This is her first year of high school so this was not an uncommon diagnosis for the school pyschologist, her counselor and the psychiatrist. She is in counseling & has been on medicine for the past 2 months. Working on getting her well and comfortable enough to go back to school. This will certainly ease my anxiety/seasonal depression. Looking for additional support

      Treatments

      Psychotherapy Working / Worked
Counseling has been very helpful. This was the same therapist my daughter saw when she was 7 (due to divorce). This has been helping in conjunction with medicine but we are not quite there yet.
    • Close Single Dads

Single dad of a 14 year old daughter. Mom lives 1100 miles away. Daughter stays with her in the summer and sees her a few other times during the year. She was recently diagnosed with anxiety but is doing much better. Trying to get her back into school.

    • Open Single Parenting

I am in my early 40's and have 14 year old daughter. I have been divorced for 8 years. The teenage years are turning out to be quite challenging for me. My daughter is dealing with anxiety and currently attends school via remote conference calls. Looking to help others and receive support when needed.

    • Open Seasonal Affective Disorder

Have dealt with this since early college but did not truly understand or start to take medicine until approx. 30. Medication helps but exercise is very key to staying positive.
