    • About Me

I am 60 years old. I live with sister, father and 6 cats. I am angry about this cancer. Want the treatments done and gone. I was laid off my job last week. It is blessing in disguise, though. I no longer worry about being sick at work, or how much work I will miss during recovery from a port being inserted. Whenever that happens. And my sister does not have to stay up until midnight to fetch me from the closing shift, either. I like writing to my email pals and often write long rambling messages to them. I taught myself to use sister's computer, while she was on vacation one year. The high tech stuff is over my head. I leave that to her.

      From CancerSurvivor Wednesday

Well Congrats on NO more radiation.
Yes that is the cream they pres for me too. It will help you, but takes abit to heal this raw horrible skin.
I too had pads under neath and had to change them, and when I took them off usually pulled stuff with it YUK.
But without them it burned and hurts so bad could hardly stand it.
The sweat under there is salty and just burned bad.
It took awhile to heal up though.
And even this summer when I got warm and sweaty I started getting a radiation rash under there, so never gone from side effects.
Also I got sunburned and my left chest cavity and arm just frozen I had to go to the surgeon again and see what I did.
They told me when you have radiation never get that site in sun ever again or it goes back to radiation treatment OMG and they meant it. It was horrible could not even left my arm up to curl my hair get a shirt on anything.
Well hopefully your on the mend now.
Did you hear the news yesterday regarding mammo's and waiting til after 50?? I about flipped what a horrible mistake. This health care system really stinks.
Well have a great day and take care
      Carolyn

TRY OATMEAL BATHES I LAYED ON MY STOMACH IN THE TUB AND IT HELPED WHILE I WAS IN THERE ANYWAYS.
AFTER YOUR RADIATION THEY CAN PRES A CREAM TO HELP YOU, BUT NOT TIL YOUR DONE WITH RADIATION.

      From Overwhelmed1203 October 24

Hi Bertha. Doesn't look like we'll get to the shelter today. My husband is working. He works on computers for Sears and because computers run 24/7 he sometimes has to work 24/7. Wouldn't you know we had so much to do this weekend. He was going to replace my washing machine. It doesn't want to spin out, but we have one in the basement to replace it with so hopefully it will work and we won't have to buy a new one.

I just got back from our church. My son and I volunteered to lay mulch in the garden. What a wet mess it was. I could only work about 1 1/2 hours. I can still get tired very quick when I'm doing something very physical.

It was nice your sister took in the cat Oscar. Sounds like he needed a little love and cleaning up.

No, no word from Carolyn. I check when I'm on DS and send her a note, but she hasn't responded.

Keep up the good job you're doing with radiation and your broken arm. November is just around the corner.

      Chat with you soon, Chris

    • Close Breast Cancer

Found odd crust on the left nipple in 2007. Ignored at first, started picking at it. That made it bleed so I spent months trying to heal it. Told the PA about it. Sent to surgeon who ordered tests, did biopsy which came back cancer. more upset when I thought I had lost my favorite hat. He did a partial mastectomy, said to have radiation. The treatment center said the cancer was aggressive and I needed chemo with Herceptin, followed by radiation. So I wait for a port then the chemo.

      Treatments

      Surgery Working / Worked
The cancer was removed. Expert says cells could be floating around hunting new 'home' so I have to have the chemo, etc. I am frustrated at how long this is taking. I wan tit over with as soon as possible so I can get back to work. I was laid off last week.
