Close Diabetes Type 2
I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes in June 1996. I've had 2 cataract surgeries, neuropathy in both feet and hands, and an infection in my big toe on my left foot. Now my sugars are in control. The day after Thanksgiving my sugar was near 500 and I was feeling miserible. I realized that I don't think of my diabetes as a disease. Since I shifted my thinking I am doing very well. My daughter is 23 and on her own so I live alone. It is very difficult sometimes to manage this illness alone.
Treatments
- Amaryl Working / Worked
- I experienced extreme lows while taking it.My doctor at the time didn't feel I needed to test so I didn't even own a monitor.
- Eating Healthier Foods Working / Worked
- It is working. My problem is that I do not eat enough.
- Lantus Working / Worked
- I take 22 uits at 9pm every night. It is helping me keep my sugars in the normal range.
- Metformin Working / Worked
- I take 850mg with each meal. it does work.
Close Depression
Type: Clinical (Major) Depressioni was diagnosed with Clinical Depression 15 years ago. I see my therapist once a week and a pyschatrist every 3 months or so. I am 52 and also have Type 2 Diabetes.
Treatments
- Effexor Working / Worked
- I've been taking 150mg twice a day since 1998 and it works for me.
- Psychotherapy Working / Worked
- I've been in therapy for over 15 years with a wonderful therapist. She has helped me a great deal and continues to do so.
- Writing Working / Worked
- I have a journal but I don't write in it regularly.
- Zoloft Working / Worked
- This was the first medication I was put on.
- Remeron Working / Worked
- Ive been taking it at bedtime since 1998. I need it to help me sleep. It is working for me.
