DAY 1 This is the beginning of what I hope will be the next best part of my life. I struggle with an addictive …
Who'd have thought...ME...totally sober? I have been bar tending a lot lately, and closing down a bar and being completely sober at the end, is a trippy thing. While everyone else is draging ass to get up and get out of there...I am running around like a mad woman, picking up empties and yelling "Suck 'um UP!! You don't have to go home, but you can't stay here".
Occasionaly, I get the urge to drink one, or smoke some...but then, all I have to do is scan the bar, for the wobbling, glassey eyed one, who smells as if they just got in a fight with a skunk, and remember back to the "good old days" (well, what I CAN remember anyways) and that's enough for me not to want to go there anymore.
Today, I am slightly sleep deprived, but I don't have a hangover.
Today, I have more money in my wallett than I have had in some time and all my bills are payed, in advance.
Today, I remember everything I did last night and have no unexplained bruises, or missing items.
Today, I have no regrets for the things I did last night...even when I finally spoke up to this girl who DRIVES ME NUTS...I left her intact.
Today, I am a greatfull alcoholic/pothead.

I used to work with a recovering alcoholic addict who tended bar where I worked before I got clean and sober. I appreciate more now how challenging that could have been at times. Another one I knew had trouble with staying sober. One I know now who is sober a year also works at the bar. I don't know! Good for you that is awesome, especially with continuing to not pick up something else as a substitute!
