Hey Lisa, I am SO sorry to hear of your mom's passing, my sympathies to you and your family. That is wonderful news that your husband is still doing well though. I am still on the blood thinners until the next doctor meeting in May. We'll see, so far all the genetic test have been negative but as crappy as the meds make me feel, I'm not certain I'm ready to give up that "security blanket" quite yet. I haven't been around here much, been dealing with some other issues now..they're testing me for ovarian cancer, so it's been hard. I keep joking I'd like to get through ONE major illness before I move onto another but somehow I'm thinking I'm not going to have much of a choice in that matter! Thank you for stopping by, sending BIG HUGS to you and your husband. I'm sure it's going to take awhile to get over worrying over every little thing, but with his continued good health, I'm sure he's well on his way. HUGGGSSSSSS

Hi Lisa and thanks Do remember your husbands story from before and hope he is doing ok now. My dodctor uses the American College of Chest Physician Guidelines which recommend longer use of anticoagulants in patients with unprovoked PE. He hasnt actually said life long warfarin yet but uses the term extended treatment. He explained that those with unprovoked PE are at slightly higher risk already for recurrence as there is no 'removable' cause. I was off warfarin for 4 weeks for my genetic testing so he tested my d-dimer at this time which was raised. Apparently this doubles the risk again! So at the moment I am happy to stay on the warfarin. Know it is not without risk but weighing it up i think in my case it is less risk than another PE. Every case is different and obviously your husbands doctors know him best but think that getting all the info you can is important to help with decisions. Hope this helps. Take care Kate x

Hey Lisa, how 'bout our Steelers, huh?! Was looking in to see how your husband is doing off the Coumadin. I still have to go till June and then more tests before we decide, but with all the twitches and some anxiety still hanging on, I'm ok with staying on the blood thinners for a little longer. Hope all is well there and you're not buried under snow. HUGGSSSS Cynde

First I need to say GOOO STEELERS!!!!! YEAH!!!!! We are sooo happy they won. What a great game the second half! Ok, now that I have that out of my system...again, I am so sorry I haven't responded sooner. I will be honest - Jose's health aside we have had a rough few months and this this last week was really the toughest - I wanted to make sure I was as positive as I could be:-) I think I am back to normal now:-) (what ever normal is:-) How is your hubby feeling, anymore pains or problems? Jose had the EMG because he is being seen at a "teaching" hospital and they are so confused on why he developed, and continues to have weird pains that I think they are running every test imaginable on him so they can learn off him. Honestly, I think there is not as much known on PEs and DVTs. So they can't answer the questions we have, so in-turn, they run more tests:-) The EMG was for his nerves in his legs, because he keeps having weird pains that are similar to the DVT. But it all really just boils down to the fact that his blood clots caused damage to the veins (but doctors just love to run tests -especially at a teaching hospital:-) When I read that your hubby's family didn't help I was furious!!! It angers me to hear how unsupportive his family was during such a huge ordeal! I can't understand why it is that family members seem to almost refuse to educated themselves on PEs and how serious they are!!! I am really glad to hear that your friend was there for you. I just shocks me how family members even when you tell them what happened and how serious it was, still end up not understanding. Sorry, I am not being very positive, let me just tell you I don't quite know what your situation was like, but I feel your pain. On a happier note...THE STEELERS WON!!!!! All is right in the world:-)Talk to you later:-)Liz
