I am a 2nd career pastor. In July, 2008, I was offered a residency as a hospital chaplain, so starting in September 2008, I will be serving in a large trauma center on the East Coast. All I know is that God is Good All the time, and All the Time God is Good!!!!

Close Physical & Emotional Abuse
I was emotionally and verbally abused for 22 years. I escaped the relationship with my daughter in 2000. I recently found out she was both physically and sexually abused by him. I suffer from Post Traumatic Stress and severe Anxiety.
Treatments
- Effexor Working / Worked
- PTSD with depression and social anxiety
- Abuse Counseling Working / Worked
- It has been a godsend. I moved 6 months ago, and had to get a different counselor, and this one is wonderful. It is a difference, I think, of one who specializes. My therapist utilizes cognitive process therapy.
- Art Somewhat Helpful
- Not part of my official therapy, but it does help me take my mind off things and helps me feel like I have accomplished something.
- Divorce Working / Worked
- Smartest thing I ever did.
- Effexor Working / Worked
- Effexor XR works, Effexor does not. PTSD with depression and social anxiety
- Forgiveness Too Soon to Tell
- Forgiveness for the abuse of me was easy, however I still struggle with forgiveness for the abuse of my children.
- Leave Working / Worked
- Hardest thing I ever did, but also the most important.
- Music Working / Worked
- Calms the savage beast within.
Close Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
I had a serious "parallel processing" (aka flashback) episode in 2004 when I was working at a homeless shelter and was doing an intake interview for a woman who thought it was a woman's shelter. I relived my escape from an abusive husband, and all the anxiety came back. I was diagnosed with PTSD and have been in counseling and on medication off and on since then.

I am growing more and more upset with the state of health care in this country. It is one of my top "soap box" topics.
Open Financial Challenges
After I divorced, my biggest curse was an excellent credit score. That and a good job allowed me to rack up a huge amount of credit card debt that became unmanageable after I lost my job and went back to school. I am still digging out.

- Credit Counseling Somewhat Helpful
- Cut Up Credit Cards Working / Worked
- All I can say is that this was done by the cc companies long before I decided to do it. Now I refuse - only allow debit cards.
- Debt Consolidation Not Working
- Not able to get a debt consolidation loan because I had "too many open lines of credit." Go figure.
- Filing for Bankruptcy Too Soon to Tell
- In process. Having trouble getting all my numbers together and the down payment to the bankruptcy atty.
