I’m With You
Hi Dennis! I appreciate your good wishes. Unfortunately, this is such a bad time for real estate, (selling, that is!) Buyers have it all! We are already down 15K from our assessment and their lowball off is 10K below that! Truly does suck, but what to do?? We have a 2 bedroom ranch, but there are 5 big steps, front and back, and it is getting increasingly difficult for me to use them. And, our laundry is in the basement. We are going into a Senior community,..very nice, with NO steps anywhere! 2 bedroom 1 1/2 baths with the laundry in the 1/2 bath, Yay! That means I can again help with the laundry. My hubby has done it for years, God Bless him! But, I will feel better about myself if I can take care of most of it, and for him,...no more shoveling or mowing! He will love that part! He is 12 years younger, so I didn't even consider doing this, but it was his suggestion and of course, he is right. I have seen a Rheumatologist now and his consensus is that he can't help me. (because of my kidneys) Anything that could help me, I can't take,...soooo, I have to get my stubborness (er, I mean determination) (smile) behind me and push to do what I can do for as long as I can! Hi Dennis! So nice to hear from you! I was glad to hear that your diabetes is doing well and you are involved in new pain management for your back. Let me know how that works out for you, okay? Give my best to Liz, won't you? We haven't moved yet, we are waiting until the house sells. Unfortunately, I think we might have settled on the wrong broker. We are now listed as 20K under assessment to try to move it. Not a thing has to be done by anyone buying it and we even have a 1 yr home warranty on it. such is the market these days, I guess! I sooo wanted to be moved by now, for sure, before winter comes again. The steps are hard for me (we have 5, front and back) and the new place has NONE. AHHH! Anyway, grand to hear from you. How nice to hear from you, Elton!! How ARE you?? How is the back doing? Have you had anything done as yet? I have thought of you so many times but didn't want to bother you. I know you are always so busy! How about the diabetes? Is everything well under control for you? Take a moment to read my last journal if you would like, I have a lot going on (as usual), but I am a survivor, I may get down, but never out! Hey, your acct says today is your birthday!! True??!! Happy Birthday! What are you doing to celebrate? Is Liz making you a favorite dinner, going out?? Whatever you do, I hope you can have some quiet time together! Prayer
I am so sorry to hear you are in so much pain. I hope that things slow down at work so you can take care of yourself. My Mom is in pain from all the cleanup from the storm. It just about destroyed her farm. It took her over a month to get things back to working and she was without power for 2 weeks. You are in my thoughts and prayers and hope you get a break soon. Keep us posted on how your doing. Know you are loved and thought of. Terrie

Close Sciatica
I have severe back pain caused by my L5 vertebrae pinching my sciatic nerve. The pain begins there and runs through my hip, down my right leg and ends with numbness in my toes. It is unbearable at times, I have sat down in the middle of walmart and other stores to relieve the pressure and pain many times.
Treatments
- Lyrica Working / Worked
- My doc has prescribed several pain meds and once nurotinwhich nearly killed me.Pain meds make me sick and dont help the pain much.He started me on Lyrica about a week ago and so far it has brought me much relief. The pain is much better except at the damage site in my spine but am concerned about the negative feedback that I read on the fibromyalgia board. I have not had side effects yet.
Close Chronic Pain
Well, I am 56 years old. I have had sciatic back pain for years getting worse as I get older. It is caused by my spinal cord or nerve being pinched by my L5 vertebrae. It starts there runs through my hip, thigh, knee, and ends with numbness in my toes. It is on my right side, although I have been told it should be on my left side, go figure? Anyway it gets so bad sometimes I have had to squat or sit down in the isle at stores to relieve the pain/ pressure. Just started taking Lyrica it helps
Treatments
- Chiropractic Adjustment Not Working
- I couldnt walk the next day after treatment. Was in agony for several days. NEVER AGAIN
- Heat Somewhat Helpful
- Temporary relief
- Hydrocodone Not Working
- Makes me sick. Dosnt help pain
- Lyrica Not Working
- Lyrica gave me some relief at first, but has stopped helping my pain. It is swelling me up more now and I dont want the side effects without any help with the pain.
- Nerve Blocks Somewhat Helpful
- Had one years back. Helped for 2 weeks and was very expensive.
- Neurontin Not Working
- Made me very sick. Stopped my bowel movements for a week. Headaches
- Oxycodone Somewhat Helpful
- Dosnt make me as sick as others and helps the pain some.
- Physical Therapy Not Working
Open Diabetes Type 2
I was diag. pre diabetic 10 yrs ago, but paid no attention. 18 mo ago my A1C was was observed at 11. I had suspected I was diabetic because of sores and rashes that were slow to go away or not at all. I have worked hard to bring it under control and my last A1C was 6.7.
Treatments
- Dietary Modification Working / Worked
- No refined sugar whatsoever
- Januvia Not Working
- Made me very sick, constipated entirely for a week. I mean totally stopped up. Very bad testicle pain, headaches
- Lantus Working / Worked
- Have been on lantis for a yea and it controls my sugar levels pretty well.
- Metformin Not Working
- Just didnt do anything
- Physical Exercise Somewhat Helpful
- Exercise always helps, but not alone
