Close Pulmonary Embolism
I just got out of the hospital a week ago (12/11/08) with a PE in my left lung. This was my second PE. I had my first one 4 years ago (1/05). My first one was bilateral and massive. I was on Yasmin. The hematologist found a clotting disorder (prothrombin gene mutation). I had thought that Yasmin was largely to blame for the first clotting episode, but here I am with a second clot!! I am back on coumadin "for life."
Treatments
- Coumadin Working / Worked
- I just started back on Coumadin a week ago. My INR is not high enough yet... but I did well with stabilizing it before... I am unhappy about knowing that i'll be on it "for life." I love greens and green tea! Such a bummer to have to have them in moderation and consistent amounts.
- Heparin Working / Worked
- Took it in the hospital. I was too out-of-it to care.
- Lovenox Working / Worked
- I just got the bad news that I'll be on until at least Monday. Ugh. Hate giving myself injections.
Close Dizziness & Vertigo
I have had chronic dizziness for 11 years. It is much improved through vestibular therapy and anti-convulsants (zonegran). An ENG indicated a bilateral vestibular loss. I recently was part of a clinical trial for the BrainPort Balance Device and had amazing results.

Open Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)
I have had 2 PEs- one in 2005, one in 2008. We guess they started as DVTs, but none were ever found on scans. Mainly, I just want to chat with y'all about coumadin, etc.
