About Me
I just moved to the midwest after finally going into remission after four years. I'm waiting to start a new job, but my health has worsened since I got here. I'm just trying to hold it together until I'm cleared for some kind of insurance. I love to read and write. I've kept a journal since I was 11. I'm learning how to cook, and surprisingly, haven't burned down the house yet!

hey thanks for the hug in September, i don't come on here often. i was only able to just barely take one class, but i finished one of my degrees with that one class so that's a major accomplishment for me! I'm going to try to take my last class in spring next year so i can finally be done. i just started some new meds so we will see how that goes. hope your doing well!!

Close Crohn's Disease & Ulcerative Colitis
I was diagnosed two Decembers ago with Crohn's disease. I'm still struggling to find a treatment to maintain my health. I'm finally off Prednisone and desperate to stay that way. I'm experimenting with Mercaptopurine now.
Treatments
- Asacol Not Working
- The side effects caused symptoms reminiscent of a flare-up. I'm trying another NSAID in its place.
- Avoid Certain Foods / Chemicals Somewhat Helpful
- Have special trouble with sausage-based Italian foods.
- Flagyl Somewhat Helpful
- Prednisone Working / Worked
- I suffer from depression and lethargy as I decrease. During the highest doses, I'm hyperactive and have nightmares and insomnia.
- Purinethol Working / Worked
- I'm at a low dose that kept me in remission for two months. Just started getting sick again and waiting to see if I should take more or switch meds. Side effects: headaches for two weeks straight, dizziness, then skin sensitivity and hair texture change
