This is the "short" version. I was admitted to the hospital for a back surgery. Developed a spinal fluid leak. Complete bed rest and two more surgeries. Two months in bed. Sent home without the heparin that I had in the hospital. At home terrible left leg pain and told to take neurontin, A week later in ER with "huge" DVT. Previous DVT with pregnancy 20 years ago. Many problems 4 months later.
I had a cervical fusion years ago which helped me a lot. I had L5-S1 surgery with interbody fusion, rods and screws. It was pretty traumatic and I think I have PTSD as a result. I am no better now and the pain is pretty unbearable a lot od the time, The surgeon nicked my spinal cord and the fluid leaked into my wound and then finally broke the incision open while I was at home. I had three more surgeries to try to seal it with collagen and one procedure to place a lumbar drain.
I am a recovered anorexic. It has been a long struggle throughout my life but as I became a more balanced person, the weight balanced too. Unfortunately, now, at my age, five years post quitting smoking, my body wants to hold every calorie. I am learning acceptance. I guess I am here to provide support and finally talk about my issues. I actually need to lose weight in a healthy way but I do not obsess.
Received a diagnosis in1979 but since have a lesion free MRI. I have had many symptoms that suggest MS and would like support as I continue to try to figure it all out.
