Alll I can think is "wow". I'm OK... great actually considering the circumstances of the past week. I was fired for a mistake, one that I don't believe was legal cause for firing... but I'm not one to fight to be somewhre I'm not wanted.
I had some warning... when I was first called out on my mistake, I could tell they were already thinking of letting me go. That allowed me to mentally process it ahead of time. It also allowed me to pack up all my personal items in anticipation.
I'm an emotional person; I wonder if/when I will fall apart. For now, I feel a sense of freedom and acceptance. Gratitude even.

hon I am sorry that you got fired, and i hope that the feelings of freedom continue.

I'm so sorry they let you go. Their loss, and it sounds like a negative environment so in the end it's in your best interest not to be there anyway. You deserve better!

Well, you are certainly doing all right so far. Maybe it won't affect you as much as you think it will! And I agree with you. I don't like being where I am not wanted either. I think that you will find yourself someplace where you are appreciated and needed more, where they won't look for an excuse to give you the boot. The old saying goes, if one door closes, another always opens. I hope that the room you were just shoved out of floods. Or falls off the building in an earthquake. Or spontaneously implodes. Or gets invaded by Aliens, like in the movie. Or gets infested with man eating rats.

i know youre a good worker.
its their mistake, not yours.

all American states have unemployment. if youve worked longer then 6 months, call your unemployment center. Your not claiming from the business, you claim from unemployment. unemployment claims from taxes to companies that cant hold workers. so next year, the schools taxes will increase, because of their lay offs. even if you dont participate in this, the system will continue, so i suggest you at least try for what youre entitled too.
you normally make about 35% less money on unemployment then when working, and it is taxable, so prepare for that when filing for taxes next year. itll come just like a pay check.
my mother claimed it when fired. she worked a little over a year. had some problems with attendance. the company said that being late, or absent, were the same. if she was late or absent more then 13 times in a year, she would be fired. the labor union doesnt consider that valid, and awarded her unemployment for an unjust lay off. i think she used unemployment for 6 or 7 months. its not enough to save on, and we still lost a little bit of money each month.

If you think it wasn't "legal", it might be worth pursuing - Not necessarily because you want that job back, but rather to compensate for lost earning that you otherwise would have made.
The key thing would be whether your (former) employer formally gave a specific reason for the firing. In most states, and employer doesn't HAVE to give a reason, but if they do, then that reason has be be a legal, valid, and uniform throughout the company.

I'm sorry that you got fired especially during these hard times. But hopefully you fine another job and one that you will enjoy too good luck.

Sorry about the job, sweetie. I'm in the exact same boat right now!

I'm in that boat too, so I know it can really damage your confidence. Just remember you are a great person no matter what you are doing. Think of it as an opportunity to find a job you love!
