Thanks Mel ... You are so right in every regard. While friends and family do try to understand there just simply is no way of them knowing truly how bizarre and painful this disease really is. Thanks!

I'm sorry it has been so difficult for you. My manager keeps talking to me about taking advantage of the disability benefits available to me through my company, etc., but I am just not sure. There are days that it is really difficult for me to deal with the pain. I think until the Plaquenil really gets working, if it gets working, I am going to be in "not the greatest" shape every day. I hope it gets better for you. I hope they get the LTD thing figured out. That doesn't seem right that they could label it differently, so that they can not pay you for long term disability.
      Hugs.

Hello, Mel. Yes, I definitely had the extreme itching too years ago. It lasted for about a month. In my case, the doctor figured out later it might have been one of the drugs. Sometimes there is an immediate reaction, and sometimes there is a delayed reaction. In any case, mine apparently ended up as liver damage due to prescription drugs, as a number of drug side effects go. I had extreme hives that looked like huge welts on my body, and all around my mid section, my skin turned yellow-orange. All along my lymph glands turned bright red. One more reason, nutritional therapy won me over. Drugs are absolutely necessary for emergencies, but I just couldn't tolerate all the side effects any more.
