About Me
I have spent nearly 6 years as a Homemaker. I am now job training so that I can support my daughters on my own. My eldest daughter (5) has Asperger's Disorder, a form of high-functioning autism. I also have a 4 yr old daughter and a dog (Black Lab X Golden Retriever)

Support Groups
Close Life After Divorce
Divorced in everything but the papers (coming Feb 09). 2 daughters, 5 and 4. Eldest has Asperger's (Autism). Was in an abusive marriage for nearly 8 yrs.
Close Child Support & Custody
Separated since February 2008. Divorced pending papers. 2 daughters, 5 and 4.
Open Autism / Autism Spectrum
My eldest daughter has been diagnosed with Asperger's Disorder/ADHD
Treatments
- Avoid Certain Foods / Chemicals Working / Worked
- Red dye is a big NoNo, as is sugar. I try to keep a healthy balanced diet in place with treats in the form of no sugar added candies/cookies/juice. She also has an MSG allergy.
- Behavior Management Working / Worked
- Slowly starting to have an effect. Routine has been the most important.
- Pets Working / Worked
- I recently got a dog, he's 9 mos old. He's been wonderful with her. She loves him to pieces. Snuggle time with him has helped a lot.
Open Seasonal Affective Disorder
I have had mild SAD since my early teens. Mine doesn't have a time of year. It can come on any rainy/cloudy day. No Sunshine = Bad Day. Living in a basement apt doesn't help either.
Open Asperger Syndrome
I have a five yr old daughter who has been diagnosed with Asperger's.
Open Parenting Big Kids (5-8)
Single mom of two girls, aged 5 and 4 (16 mos apart). Eldest has Asperger's.

- Education (School) Working / Worked
- School is going well for them so far. My eldest needs an Educational Assistant during school hours.
- Listening Working / Worked
- Listening is easy, figuring out what they are saying is not so easy!
- Patience Working / Worked
- Depends on the day, sometimes my patience wears thin.
Open Breakups & Divorce
Separated since Feb 08. Divorce pending papers. Single mom of two.
Treatments
- Love Working / Worked
- My new boyfriend and my daughters help a lot in this dept.
- Music Working / Worked
- Music is another stress reliever.
- Pets Working / Worked
- Have a black lab/golden retriever, got him because of daughter's Asperger's disorder but have found a lot of comfort through him.
- Psychotherapy Working / Worked
- My counselor says I'm getting along extremely well. I'm not so sure but I'm not turning back now.
- Reading Working / Worked
- Reading is my stress reliever, get away to other worlds without leaving the couch.
- Support from Friends & Family Working / Worked
- They've all been great trhought this whole thing.
- Talking Working / Worked
- I vent so much all my friends probably secretly want me to shut up!
Open Single Parenting
Been a single mom since Feb 08. Still adjusting but we're having a good time.
