Hi Janet, glad to hear they have given you a handicap thingy. I finally broke down and got a permanent one from the DMV after chemo. At some point, I realized I needed that little bit of help. Today, I am very grateful for my placard. I have to park in a multi-tiered parking structure at my Cancer Center and boy, what a difference it makes to not have to walk great distances. IMO you're doing great to work at all! I was too tired to do anything except eat and sleep during chemo. But, we're all different. I hope this day and tomorrow (the 6th day) brings you more and more energy-I am sure it will. love and purrs, r&s

Hi Janet--sending you lots of love for your fourth day after chemo. The fifth and sixth were even better for me. Hope that's the case for you too. Have a good one at work. Don't overdo as your system is already working overtime. love and purrs, r&s

I sure remember how exhausted I was on the second and third day after chemo, but the fourth day onward I felt increasingly stronger. I had the same chemo combo that you are currently taking. I slept as much as possible the few days following an infusion. you'll feel better in a couple of days. love and purrs

    Dear Janet
I`m so happy to hear that you got some sleep last night. I truly feel like a child who knows what to expect at the doctor. Already I`m fatigued, I gues I`m a bit anxious. I keep wondering how long my body will be able to accept this routine, however I guess we do whatever we have to do...
Lots of Love, we`ll just continue our battles together!
    xxLinda

    Dear Janet
I`m sending you some chocolate in hopes of trying to fatten you up for chemo. I truly believe that the extra weight, that the steroids have put on me, is helping keep my counts within range. I can`t believe that you lost your hair so quickly, mine took 4 months to lose, however I still like to wear my wigs out because I feel that I look much younger. My own, new hair, tends to age me about 20 years. It sounds like you had a wonderful family reunion and Masters Degree celebration. It must be wonderful to have such a large, loving family. Stay strong, EAT and let me know what transpires with the CA levels. Tomorrow I travel to MSKCC for chemo, not looking forward to it :(
    Lots of love, as always.
    xxLinda

    Dear Janet
I`m happy to hear that IU has given you their endorsement to do whatever it takes to get well...You`ve already proven yourself as an educator, so they definitely know that you won`t take advantage of the situation. Susan had said that her mom did well on the protein shakes. I think the key to successful chemo is trying to keep you weight up, so you`ll have to ingest as many calories as possible. Your chemo session seemed tedious, however I remember that this is exactly the same length of time that I had my carboplatin/taxol lasy year from August through November. I have chemo this Monday but have no idea when they`ll do another CT. I think that I`m in 6 month cycles, unless there`s a drastic increase in my CA levels. Have you gotten yours, as of yet? Enjoy your nice weather. At least our tornado warnings are done but the rain still hasn`t stopped. Happy weekend :)
    xxLinda

  • Good Luck

    Lindaheff (09/11/09)

    Dear Janet
I wanted to send you some good luck for today`s chemo session...How are your classes at IU and how are you feeling? Please let me know how your CA levels are doing.I read somewhere that your weather has been good. I hope we`re due for a change, as it`s pouring in NJ and we have tornado warnings. Unfortunately I`m supposed to sail in a charity regatta tomorrow and we`re due for more bad weather. Then I have chemo to look forward to on Monday :(
    Stay strong.
    Lots of love,
    xxLinda

A very belated happy birthday! How wonderful to have your family there. I do understand, however, how tiring it can be too. A kindof "okay" fatique as it means that you've had fun. I am hoping to be able to go to see the Grandgirls this Saturday. Mac is going down for a football game at the University, and I could be the potential baby-sitter. Just get nervous with it right after Chemo, so we won't "make the call" until Friday night.
    many hugs, lindamae
