I wish you well with the transition. There is no need to go completely off one to start the other, but, whatever. It sounds much more upsetting about family and friends who don't like the meds but don't show support for coming off them either. I was in the same position and it was a major turning point in my life, in terms of how I view my relationships to said fair-weather family and friends. Here at DS, your online friends really know what it's like. Hang in there. The switch will be over soon. Love. Hugs. Support. :-)

Close Chronic Pain
I suffer from chronic pain. I have fibro, deg disk disease, fusion l5/s1 jan 08, surgery schedule 1/09 to stop fluid leakage at incision and remove fluid filled cysts, maybe remove hardware. I suffer from depression to that I had before this but really bad since this got so bad.

Open Gastric Bypass Surgery
I had RNY Nov 05. I have lost around 190 +/- depending on the day. I had a good experience and am grateful I had it. Without it my other health problems would be worse. I had hopes of more of a life than I have now, but drs always say lose weight and it will be better. I wasn't diagnosed with my physical problems until after the weight loss. I am still grateful and am smaller that I was in elementary school and still lose a pound here and there! Best wishes on your journey!
Open Back Pain
I had fusion/decompression L5/S1 Jan 08. The tailbone pain was relieved. I still have the pain on both sides, nerve pains down leg that make me cry. I have another surgery Jan 09 for fluid pockets and cysts on my incision. Im having CSF headaches when I do much. Nothing they can give me, just sew up the leaks.
Treatments
- Bedrest Somewhat Helpful
- My headaches from leaks let up some. I have days where I dont have them until I overdo for a day or so.
- Epidural Injection Not Working
- I had one post op that gave me a spinal fluid leak. Two a couple months ago that didnt work. They finally did MRI and found my fluid pockets.
- Fentanyl Working / Worked
- This helps alot though I think I need a dosage change after over a year. Go a day without it and you will know how it is helping.
- Flexeril Somewhat Helpful
- This helped at knocking me out so I didnt feel anything. When I was awake on it I still had spasms.
- Hydrocodone Working / Worked
- This helps with my joints and some of my fibro pain.
- Stretching Working / Worked
- I am stretching tryin to strengthen muscles I can without causing pain to be stronger after surgery.
- TENS Working / Worked
- This helps at times.
