i'm with you. if you need me let me know! i won't be on much as my best friends deserted me when i was unable to update for a week or so due to severe depression & exhaustion. 1 woman even attacked me saying "why should anyone hold their breath to hear from you?" if you don't update of course pple will leave you." it's the first bad exp. i've had on DS..but it came in my darkest hours when i for once told others i was in trouble. but i thought of you & a few other nice ppl & i'll leave my profile up. xo peace

Close Eating Disorders
I've had every incarnation of ED over the years... anorexia (restricting and purging types), bulimia, 'bulimarexia', orthorexia, EDNOS. And I've had a lot of health complications as a result of my ED. EDIT: Doctors are recommending IP/ Resi for my ED and I'm considering doing it this summer!!
Treatments
- Seroquel Not Working
- It made me gain weight and crave sugar. It wasn't a good sleeping aid for me.
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Too Soon to Tell
- I'll be doing lots of CBT in the PHP this spring. And then I'm assuming I will do CBT when I go IP for my ED this summer.
- Dialectical Behavioral Therapy Too Soon to Tell
- I will start working on tnis when I start IP.
- Dietitian Consult Somewhat Helpful
- I'm doing nutritional therapy now; starting a basic meal plan. I'm also vegan. Although helful, they cant help me stop my ED behaviors. And I have a nutrition degree.
- Group Therapy Too Soon to Tell
- I'll have a support group when I start IP.
- Hospitalization Working / Worked
- I was hospitalized a few times and I got WORSE every time (with the exception of this last time). They've convinced me that I can have a fulfilling wonderful life if I can rid myself of the ED. And that I can get rid of ED. The doctors recommend I do an ED inpatient program this summer.
- Klonopin Working / Worked
- Klonopin is wonderful for me for meal times. I take it before meal times and I seem to eat more easily.
- Lexapro Somewhat Helpful
- It helps me feel more optimistic and less negative about myself.
- Outpatient Treatment Program Too Soon to Tell
- I will be doing PHP. I'm excited for it!
- Psychotherapy Too Soon to Tell
- I am starting with a new therapist in PHP.
- Renfrew Center Considering
- Doctors are recommending IP or Resi but I'm not sure I'm going. I do hope to do some form of intensive treatment this summer.

- I've built up a support system of a few people since I've left the hospital. I know that they'll be there for me.

Close Alcoholism
I completed a medically assisted detox/ inpatient treatment program. Then did 2 months of IOP. EDIT: The doctor now does not believe I have addiction or an alcohol problem.
Treatments
- AA Meetings Considering
- I had considered going to AA when I was in IOP.
- Detox Working / Worked
- Detoxing REALLY sucked. I had bad tremors and cravings for a month.
- Folic Acid Somewhat Helpful
- I was given folic acid and other nutritional therapy while IP.
- Librium Working / Worked
- It really helped reduce alcohol withdrawal symptoms while in the hospital. This was the most important part of my rehabilitation.
- Outpatient Treatment Program Somewhat Helpful
- I did two months of IOP. Now I am doing psychotherapy and work on the underlying issues that cause me to drink.
- Seroquel Somewhat Helpful
- It had therapuetic value at high doses, but caused me to gain weight and crave sugar. I've weaned off of it because of that. It did help me sleep whilst on it, though.
- Sleep Working / Worked
- Getting adequate sleep is essential for treatment of alcholism or alcohol abuse. I've had wonderful sleep since I've been discharged from the hospital.
- Trazodone Somewhat Helpful
- It was helpful for me to sleep (because I have insomnia).
- Willpower Working / Worked
- I am working on my willpower with drinking and abusing Rx drugs. I do not want to drink ever again; just to protect my body and mind. I cannot drink with my other psychiatric meds, anyway.
Open Self-Injury
I have been self-injuring for about 10-12 years. I have been hospitalized because of it. EDIT: I have stitches now, so I've finally realized I need to get help and complete PHP.

- Art therapy is so helpful for me. I like to paint, draw, color, do photography, do beadwork, etc

- Group therapy was really helpful in the hospital this time.
- Outpatient Treatment Program Too Soon to Tell
- I am starting PHP which will probably include treatment for depression, PTSD, anxiety, and cutting.

- I've decided to take time off of school to work on my issues and go to PHP.
- Talking Working / Worked
- I have started to open up about my issues and have told my family about my problem. It helps to have support.
- Tattoos Considering
- I love tattoos, I hope to get one done in early April that is recovery-oriented.
Open Insomnia
I have extreme insomnia. I haven't slept properly in YEARS. I've become addicted to sleeping pills and/or sedatives. EDIT: I take ambien, carisoprodol, klonopin, benadryl, Ca/Mg, and trazodone every night to help me sleep.
Treatments
- Ambien Working / Worked
- I am taking this now. I take 10mg/ night. In combination with carisoprodol, klonopin, benadryl, and trazodone.
- Ativan Working / Worked
- Carisoprodol Working / Worked
- I take soma for my pain, but its really great to help me sleep and sedate me.
- Klonopin Working / Worked
- I take 2 mg/ day for anxiety and it REALLY helps me sleep at night.
- Lavender Working / Worked
- I have a lavender heat pillow that helps a lot with muscle pain.
- Morphine Working / Worked
- I take it for pain but it helps with insomnia as well.
- Music Working / Worked
- I love to listen to music while I fall asleep. I also use a white noise machine sometimes.
- Restoril Working / Worked
- It works in combination w/ trazodone, ambien, or seroquel.
- Risperdal Working / Worked
- I stopped taking it because I think it causes weight gain. It was mainly for my PTSD anyway.
- Seroquel Working / Worked
- I've weaned off of it for various reasons.
- Trazodone Working / Worked
- I take it for its sedative effects in combination with other meds.
Open Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
I have C-PTSD from childhood emotional and physical abuse. I also experienced a lot of different traumas from the ages of 3-11. I am healing now.

- I'll be doing CBT when I start PHP.
- EMDR Considering
- I have decided to hold off on EMDR and will be workin on it in either PHP or after I finish PHP/IP.
- Klonopin Working / Worked
- Klonopin is wonderfully helpful for me. I get breakthrough anxiety and panic attack, probably due to PTSD. The klonopin is alos helpful for eating (bc of my ED).
- Lexapro Working / Worked
- It has helped with my depression and somewhat with my PTSD. I hope to continue working on my issues in PHP while Im more stable on lexapro and other meds.
- Music Working / Worked
- I love to listen to music to help me relax and help me sleep/ work on anxiety.
- Psychotherapy Too Soon to Tell
- I'm sure psychotherapy will be a big part of PHP and the following inpatient treatment. I know I need to talk in order to understand my problems and work towards recovery.
- Reading Somewhat Helpful
- I have found that researching PTSD has helped me to recover and cope with the issues that come up along the way.

- I took it for some time for PTSD, but I think it causes weight gain.

- Seroquel did not help with my PTSD and I've weaned off of it bc of its side effects.

- Group therapy in the hospital was wonderful! I learned a lot and had a lot of help from other members of our hospital community. I hope to tell my family about these issues as well.

- I was taught some of these in the hospital and I do find them helpful even though they're hard to do while in the midst of severe anxiety.
- Breathwork Somewhat Helpful
- Progressive relaxation works for me. I try meditiation, yoga, and breathwork as a prevenative measure for my anxiety.
- Klonopin Working / Worked
- Klonopin is so wonderful for me! I take it 3x/day and have been able to avoid anxiety and panic attack in the hospital and the day since I've left the hospital. It really helps with my ED, as well.
- Lexapro Working / Worked
- It works more for my depression than my anxiety.
- Positive Thinking Somewhat Helpful
- I am working on following some CBT recommendations from the hospital staff but positive thinking is hard in the midst of severe anxiety.
- Remeron Not Working
- I'm allergic to it!
- Trazodone Working / Worked
- I take it every night for the sedative effect but it helps my nighttime insomnia and anxiety.
- Valium Considering
- Xanax Working / Worked
- I take Klonopin instead.

Open Fibromyalgia
I've been in constant, chronic, and sometimes severe pain on-and-off for the past five years. I want the pain to stop!

- Cyclobenzaprine Somewhat Helpful
- I've been taking this on and off for about 6 years.
- Dietary Modification Working / Worked
- Veganism has helped me to reduce the pain at times.
- Heat Somewhat Helpful
- Helps the muscle pain but not the joint or nerve pain.
- Morphine Working / Worked
- I take this for my back problems, but it doesnt help with the inflammation in my joints.
- Neurontin Considering
- Ultram Not Working
- I'm allergic to it.
- Vitamin B12 Not Working
- I take methylcobalamin because I'm vegan.
- Morphine Working / Worked
- I take 30 mg each day.
- Carisoprodol Working / Worked
- I take 350 mg at night to help with the chronic muscle pain.
