Close Atrial Fibrillation (AFib)

I had my first atrial fibrillation in the middle of the night right after I turned 40. I used to notice them only once or twice a year. It would always last 12 hours and start at 3 in the morning. Now, it is chronic. No one has been able to diagnose a cause. I know there is an emotional component.

Treatments

Digoxin Working / Worked

I thought it worked for a number of years. I had not side effects. I still had yearly or twice a year attacks. I was taken off of it early this year and that is when I became a chronic fibrillator. Now I am back on it. It seems to help to keep the number of beats down. But, I am taking a lot of other drugs with it.

Metoprolol Working / Worked

The doctor keeps increasing the dose. I think it helps. Particularly at night. No side effects that I know of.

Zocor Working / Worked

I just started it. I haven't noticed any side effects. I will be test for the first time to see if it works in January.
