Welcome to Diets & Weight Maintenance support group. Lots of great people here ready to answer questions or just listen when you need a friend. We do a lot of hugging here so be ready for that! Sometimes we administer a kick in the butt, but very gently! BIG HUG to YOU!

    • Close Arrhythmias
      Type: Tachycardia

I had a fast heartbeat since middle school as my resting rate would always run high when sitting or recovering from work outs; teachers always assumed that I was just out of shape. I had e.coli poisoning in 2002 and ever since then, the heartbeat has persisted to take off (at times, my heart would get up to 130 and it just got to be very uncomfortable not to mention concerning). Had all of the appropriate heart tests but it was concluded that I have a fast sinus rhythm (IST)

      Treatments

      Metoprolol Somewhat Helpful
Side effects are tiredness Dosage is 50 mg. per day 25 at AM and PM It has definitely helped to decrease my heart rate...I highly recommend this drug or at least see if it works for you if you are in my shoes. Unfortunately my heart will still take off from time to time and I have to refrain from drinking ANY alcohol even a drop or having too much coffeetea lifting heavy things in addition to losing sleep and stressing too much.
      Drinking Water Working / Worked
Ever since I have cut out soda and other sugary syrupy drinks I have had less of these episodes....maybe the artificial sugars dont fare me well???
      Acupuncture Working / Worked
Slightly expensive but it does make you more in tune to your body and appreciating and accepting your body the way it is...a good way to relax. Its hard to explain..dont knock it till you try it
    • Close Bipolar Disorder

I am in the process of being diagnosed with a possible "soft" bipolar disorder...whatever the heck that means...it's definitely a roller coaster ride though. I never had such drastic mood changes before psychiatric drugs but only went on them because I was experiencing panic attacks and a little bit of Generalized Anxiety Disorder and Obsessive thoughts.

      Treatments

      Celexa Not Working
Made me spiral downward into a deeper depression and made me have rapid mood cycles. I didn't like this drug.
      Tegretol Somewhat Helpful
Helps with my panic attacks but thats about it. I am as grumpy as hell and I do not feel like its really helping me all that much...im just more tired than usual.
    • Open Diets & Weight Maintenance

Well I am 5'3" and because of antidepressants as well as my habit of emotional eating, I have packed on 20 extra pounds (a healthy weight for me would be about 125). It sucks but I know I am going to get it off eventually. The extra weight is making me depressed so I have decided to get proactive instead of reactive...I joint WWatchers two springs ago and lost 10 pounds within 4 weeks..dunno why I stopped lol. I will be joining online again. I have gained it all in my middle...pls help lol

      Treatments

      Weight Watchers Working / Worked
Fabulous...dunno why I stopped. Perhaps I find the points system too hard to track and I got frustrated but it's worth the paper work and counting to get a healthy lifestyle. I have a little OCD so I think that I got caught up in the numbers.
