About Me
I'm creative, loyal and easy-going, but passionate. I have a two cute litte kitties named Isis and Freyja, a wonderful beau named Parker, 2 bonus kids - Parker's boys who are 7 and 9. My health situation isn't the best though - fibromyalgia and asthma.

Welcome to the Bipolar Community! It's a great place for support and friendship. If you have any general queries about DS, just ask me.
If you are bipolar yourself, when you are ready, maybe post an introduction under General Topics at http://www.dailystrength.org/c/Bip...
If you are not bipolar yourself, you may find “Families and Friends of Bipolar” more useful http://www.dailystrength.org/c/Fam...

Support Groups
Close Asthma
Type: Adult AsthmaI was diagnosed with Asthma the first part of 2008 after having had pneumonia twice in 2007. It's still not well controlled, but I'm getting there. They suspect I had it all along.
Treatments
- Advair Not Working
- I had problems with this. It brought on asthma attacks and caused pretty bad chest pain.
- Albuterol Working / Worked
- I used it in my nebulizer while I had pneumonia and it helped a lot.
- Asmanex Working / Worked
- I don't really know if it's working, but I'm still taking it. My lung function sure isn't improving though.
- Clarinex Working / Worked
- My asthma is not solely allergy induced but it has a major affect on it. Im allergic to fungus so I get no breaks. Clarinex helped reduce the number of asthma attacks I have.
- Singulair Not Working
- I took it for awhile but didn't notice any changes on or off it.
- Xopenex Working / Worked
- This is my current rescue inhaler and it works really well.
Close Fibromyalgia
I was diagnosed in February 2001. My pain management flucuates depending on the season, allergies and stress. Mentally, I've finally got a hold on it. I do pretty well on prioritizing too.
Treatments
- Heat Working / Worked
- I take a 45 minute hot bath every day and use a heating pad regularly. Works wonders!
- Lyrica Somewhat Helpful
- It doesn't help my pain at all, but is sure helps me sleep.
- Ultram Working / Worked
- This is my main form of pain control. If everything is going well, it works well. If things aren't on the down low then it doesn't work so well.
Open Rape
I was raped when I was 14 by a male friend of a friend. I believe I reached my peak of recovery 2 years ago, which was 16 years later.
Treatments
- Psychotherapy Somewhat Helpful
- I didn't get a whole lot of counseling for this, but what little I did helped tremendously.
- Talking Working / Worked
- Repeating it over and over seemed to help a lot too.
- Zoloft Working / Worked
- I used Zoloft for many years and it helped with the depression.
Open Parents of Children with ADHD
My bonus children moved in with us a little over a year ago. We suspected he had ADHD early on, but his BM refused to think it. We had him tested soon after he came to live with us and the results were positive. He's doing much better in school now.
