I am the son of a seriously abusive alcoholic father, workaholic and distant mother, and the brother of a suicidal drug and alcohol dependent sister. How I managed to come out of it normal is anybodies guess. I am here because my wife suffers from Bi-polar disorder as well as a few other things, and to be honest I have no other support as I have no family or close friends that I can count on.
Close Physical & Emotional Abuse

Treatments
- Leave Somewhat Helpful
- Although it was only for one night, it seemed to allow my mind time enough to breath enough to deal with everything.
- Music Working / Worked
- Most of the time this works, I believe there is a song for evey mood you just have to listen.
- Talking Not Working
- Trying to logically and rationally talk to someone who is Bi-polar as they are tearing you to shreds emotionally is like shooting a bee bee at a speeding train.
Open Parenting Preschoolers (3-5)
I am a lucky father of a kick butt and take names 5 year old. He is my best friend as I am his. he and his sister are my reasons for striving to achieve the high goals that I have.
Treatments
- 1-2-3 Magic Working / Worked
- I have to slow down before I get to three sometimes. and occasionally he wants to test that..
- Child Time-out Working / Worked
- HE HATES THIS!!! usually because he falls asleep which is the underlying problem that got him into trouble in the first place.
- Education (School) Working / Worked
- Being addicted to school and striving to obtain a degree in medicine, education and learning has and always will be priority one for my kids.
- Positive Reinforcement Working / Worked
- This works better then I ever thought, until he gets a little full of himself and starts replying with "I know I am" and " i know everything, even more then you dad"
Open Parenting Teenagers (12-18)
I am the luck stepfather of an awesome yet stubborn 16 year old girl. I constantly finding her giving me both hope and stress that she will take the world by the reins and be something special.
Treatments
- Education (School) Not Working
- I am hopeless in this realm because nothing I say about school seems to matter. I tried to tell her that I screwed off in highs chool and am now 29 fighting for every inch of the medical degree I am after. I just get the 1000 yard stare..
- Patience Working / Worked
- I am a very patient person, but I do have to ask... patience with a 16 year old??? Is this something that normal people have?
- Psychotherapy Not Working
- TOOOOO Stubborn, nobody is going to tell her that she is wrong or has issues... Gotta love it..
