Scott, I was wondering if you are taking enzymes when you eat?? My twin takes 3 enzyme pills at meals and one for a snack.....especially after the whipple. She has found out that they no longer are making the generic pills that she was taking. She takes creon 10. The pancrease pills run about $500.00 a month and the insurance company will only pay a small amount. Can't find a cheaper generic. Have you had this problem??
Pat..
That is great news! I'm sure that gave you a boost . I've had a few set backs( had an infection and had to go back to MGH for 4 days of IVS) I just had my 6 week post sugery CT scan and tomorrow I am having a Pentreotide injection for a scan on Wednesday . Because my tumor was a neuro endocrine type this scan will show if it's traveled anywhere else. If it's clean I may not need radiation. My digestion is still way out of wack but the doctor thinks it's from all the antibiotics I took and should clear up soon. Thanks so much for the update and heres to your health!
Hi Scott, glad to hear the good news. I pray that they will not find anything again. I have a question for you, You said that the NY doctors didn't see the cancer. I was in three hospitals before my whipple. The last hospital told me I had the cancer and I had to have the whipple other wise I would not make six months. They determined that I had cancer because the fine needle biopsy came back as having the cancer. But after the whipple which took 18 hours, they came back to me saying I don't have the cancer, but I was predetermined to have it. and that I have Auto immune chronic pancreatitis. I still have some issues but not as bad as before the Whipple. I am on 30 mg oxycodine, the long term med and vicodin 750mg, and I am on Voikase 8 6 tabs with meals and 4 tabs with snacks. Your doctor made the cancer diagnose with what? The fine needle biopsy, x rays? I would like to know. They tell me that my auto immune chronic pancreatitis will go into cancer if I continue to hurt, that is why I am on the pain meds. I just want to know how the doctors determine what you have when my fine needle biopsy came back with the cancer, it was the smears from the whipple that showed an abundance of plasma cells containing the subclass 4 of immunoglobulin G (IgG4) . That is how they determined that I had the auto immune chronic pancreatitis. So I was just wondering how they determined that you had the cancer.
Scott Hope you are well , your advise and support helped me a lot during my recovery in the hospital. A big hug to you !

I am a Survivor of Pancreatic Cancer. A close friend has a daughter in the hospitol right now. She is 18 and the Drs. are discussing Pancreatitis. There don't seem to be any cause for it.
