Yay! We have finally shared the news with our family!

Everything wasn't quite as smooth as planned but it's all good!

My boys stayed the night with my mom and she called this morning to tell me my little one who has had a cough for a while woke up running a fever and vomitting. Since we go to church by her house which is 45 minutes away she suggested we take our older son to church and let her stay home with our little guy. Poor thing, when he gets a fever he is miserable and turns red.

So after church we brought him home and he climbed into bed and fell asleep. After my hubby brought home the cake I woke him up so he and his brother could have a peek. They sat at the table and I started the video camera. As soon as we opened the box my older son saw what it said and smiled real big (when he blushed a little too, it was so cute!) and I asked my little guy what it said. he answered "Happy Birthday". I told him to read it, not thinking about the fact that it was in cursive! My older son read it to him and the poor little guy was so sick he just didn't understand!

So i took a framed picture of an ultra sound out of a box (I was prepared!) and asked him if that helped. He said "ohhhh" I asked him if he understood and he said "No" so I pulled out a t-shirt I gave them last year that says "I'm going to be a big brother" and asked if that helped. Poor thing just looked so confused. So I said readi it... he did and then said "oh so you are going to be  a big sister to uncle?"

At this point it was time to tell him what was going on. I said "The Easter bunny is going to bring us a baby!" That still confused him, so we said "mommy is going to have a baby" It was all so cute. Then my older son asked what I meant about the Easter bunny and I told him the baby is due the day after Easter.

We talked a lot and my son told me he was surprised because last time we told them and we didn't have a baby (sigh) So I explained that we waited a long time to tell them because we wanted to be sure we had a healthy baby growing and that we have had a lot of doctor appointments to look at the baby. I let him know we are a lot further along than before and the doctor has looked closely at the baby but we still have to pray that everything will continue to go good. All this news really perked up my little guy and he was talking and happy but all the excitment wiped him out!

My mom was an hour late and when she arrived the boys were supposed to take her to see the cake BUT while I was getting my little guy out of bed she snuck past my husband and peeked at the cake! We were all very disappointed, but we said Oh well! the secret is out! She was surprised at how far along we are I asked her if she suspected and she said she had no idea! I told her about all the appointments and all the ultra sounds and all the appointments to come. She completely understood why we kept it secret.

My husband dropped off a letter for his dad and his step mom, but that was five hours ago and we haven't heard anything. I think my husband should call his dad and ask if he got the letter, but I guess he will handle it his way... hopefully before Halloween, because that is when we will see them again!

I am mailing cards to extended family tomorrow. They will hopefully log on to the family website and see the pics of my kids... two boys and a little bean... and then log onto my baby website for all the details!

No more secret pregnancy and no more worry! Just happy thoughts from here on out!
